This site features some extremely high quality pictures (both technically and aesthetically) which can be downloaded in a range of sizes. Searching is by keyword with no category option. Although attribution is not required, they say that a link back to their site would be good.

Foter is the easiest and fastest way to add Creative Commons photos to your blog. We find and host millions of photos from many online sources and make them available to be included in your blog posts.

This site harvests many Copyright free images from elsewhere on the web and provides an easy way to search and some categorisation. The main value that foter adds though is by making it particularly easy to embed images in some blogs with the attribution automatically attached. Well worth a look.

If you are after Creative Commons licensed images in particular colourways this is the search engine to use. You can select up to five different colours and tweak the proportions of each. There is no option to combine content and colour but nevertheless this is a fantastic tool!

I am very aware of the fact that I am using a digital curation site to highlight external resources about images and Copyright and therefore it seems sensible to highlight some of the pitfalls of this approach. I note that the Scoop.it example does not come out of this too well!

The CLA is the UK body that sorts out blanket licensing so that creators of original content are rewarded for their efforts and organisations are able to make some use of content without having to seek individual permissions on each occasion.
