This 12 year experiment in the IGP with various winter crops had different tillage systems and assessed energy indices, GHG emissions and carbon sustainability index (CSI). The tillage systems were NT with NT drill; NT+ previous crop residues using a happy turbo seeder drill (HT) and ; CT with harrow and rotovator. CT plots consumed higher input energy than NT and HT plots but output energy efficiency was highest in HT. GHG (C02 equivalents) were highest in wheat and maize. CT produced about 30% higher GHG emission than HT and NT resulting in a lower CSI in CT.
