Spread the loveIf you have been following my work, you know I spent 7 years a K-12 teacher and 7 years as a university professor, eventually becoming the dean of a school of education. As a teacher, I was passionate about helping students reach their academic potential and become productive citizens. As a professor and education dean, I was devoted to developing the next generation of teachers and education administrators. For the last two and a half years, I have been an education entrepreneur, launching an education company, Lynch Educational Consulting, which also manages the following web properties: The Edvocate, The Tech …

How Good!!!
Mitch's comment, June 3, 2019 9:13 PM
This Scoop.it article explores the idea of digital technology and problem-based learning in a school classroom environment. The article also suggests that collaboration between students, teachers and all school stakeholders is the key for successful problem-based learning.
The Consortium for School Networking released a report in February, that delves into a project around problem-based learning. The article also explores how schools in the 21st century are using extensive problem based projects and real-world teaching methods to increase student engagement, skills, development and problem-solving techniques. Key aspects I can use as a pre-service teacher coming into the teaching profession.
This article also includes the use of digital tools within problem-based learning classrooms that adds value and credibility to the article. The idea of teaching problem-based learning maybe well-known to educators, however this report details innovative techniques and technologies that help support it and get more out of our student’s achievements.
I will use ideas and collaborative strategies from this article into my own future classrooms. These include while teaching problem-based learning, to also make it collaborative. This could include a scenario in my science classroom where students were faced with a deadly pathogen and have to come up with different scenarios together to cure the world. This would make students in my classroom creative and innovative learners which is a key goal for the Melbourne Declaration for young learners.

Have you ever thought of Kahoot as a collaborative tool? Not really? Well things have kind of changed.  #TEAMMODE

"Kahoot's new team mode could be a great option for teachers who have wanted to try Kahoot but didn't have enough devices for all of his or her students to play along. Even if you do have enough devices for every student the team mode could still be a good way to promote collaboration and a little less competition in your review activities."

How Listening and Sharing Help Shape Collaborative Learning Experiences | MindShift | KQED News | Collaboration in the 21st Century classroom | Scoop.it
In order for collaborative work to be effective, students need to be mindful about listening, joint attention, sharing, coordinating and perspective taking.
Sandhia Manikon's curator insight, September 30, 2018 12:08 AM
Listening to each other is the cornerstone to teaching.
Marie Sunshine Rose's comment, October 3, 2018 2:54 AM
Listening is a trait of a good leader. Being a teacher you lead the class and students follow you. As such holding the right values is important. Being a good listener brings into light the queries, the weakness, the difficulties of students. This reduces autocratic style and students develop a more closer relationship which creates a better environment for sharing of information, ideas, skills, memories and innovation. Sharing plays an important role in building a positive classroom community. Just as important, sharing offers ample opportunities to practice and reinforce the speaking, listening, and thinking skills that are so crucial to school success.

Pretty nice tools to take into account in our classes! They will help us with the management of the class; besides, it will promote collaborative learning through the development of critical thinking and will enhance participation. One of the best things of technology is that it will help learners to come up with some learning strategies; on the other hand, the use of ICT's in the class create awareness of the positive effects of technology once it is used wisely.
