Which nations make up the Commonwealth?

The gradual decolonization of the British Empire led to the formation of the Commonwealth of Nations, in which territories under its control sought independence in order to become self-governing and later gained sovereignty. The Empire's former dependents came together as equals. Members of the Commonwealth are not bound by any laws or constitution. Democracy, world peace, equality, and free trade are among their shared interests and objectives.
hutananak35's insight:
History At the Imperial Conference in 1926, the Balfour Declaration established the British Commonwealth of Nations. In 1931, the Statute of Westminster made it official. The United Kingdom, Canada, the Irish Free State, Newfoundland, and the Union of South Africa were the initial members. Later, independent nations were added to it. The oldest political organization in the world now has 56 members.

King George VI was the first head of the Commonwealth, but Queen Elizabeth II took over after his death.

The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) is a two-year event in which Commonwealth nations' leaders collaborate on major decision-making. The purpose of the Commonwealth is to ensure that its members continue to enjoy prosperity. It gives every nation the same chance to influence the Commonwealth's policies and priorities. The Commonwealth requires states to support equality, free trade, world peace, liberty, and human rights. There is no obligation to join the Commonwealth, and member states can leave at any time without being penalized.

In addition to the Commonwealth of Nations, the nations have other relationships with the Commonwealth of Learning and the Association of Commonwealth Universities for academic purposes, and with the Commonwealth Games for sports purposes.

DONALD TRUMP withdraws Florida lawsuit against New York!!

DONALD TRUMP withdraws Florida lawsuit against New York!! | News World | Scoop.it
After a judge imposed sanctions totaling nearly one million dollars on Trump and his legal team in a separate case involving Hillary Clinton, Trump has decided to drop his lawsuit against the attorney general of New York, which was filed in Florida.
hutananak35's insight:
That concludes the conflict between New York Attorney General Tish James and former President Donald Trump. On Friday,

Trump's legal team withdrew a lawsuit that James had filed in November in Florida to prevent her from accessing a Sunshine State-based trust that holds many of his business assets.

The former president "hereby voluntarily dismisses his claims in this action," according to the one-page filing. Just a few weeks earlier, James had filed a lawsuit against Trump, three of his adult children, and his business empire for engaging in dishonest financial practices.

She wants an order prohibiting Trump from making real estate transactions in New York for five years and up to $250 million. Trump has slammed the lawsuit, including after James got a judicial order in November that put an independent watchdog in charge of his business dealings while the New York case is going on.

The case is still pending. Trump's lawyers didn't say why they dropped his lawsuit in Florida right away. However, the federal judge in charge of the case recently called his claims "both vexatious and frivolous."

The same Florida judge also ordered nearly $1 million in sanctions against Trump and his attorney, Alina Habba, on Friday morning in a lawsuit against Hillary Clinton and federal officials.

Coaches with most to prove down the stretch - 2022

We've hit the post-Thanksgiving crucible of the NFL season, where the playoff heavyweights separate themselves from the pack, and the featherweights look forward to what might come in the offseason.

hutananak35's insight:

The pressure of the upcoming weeks can show the resolve of some clubs and the fragility of others. Coaches are tasked with steeling their players to withstand the brutality of the stretch run to ensure

success into January.

Every head coach faces a different challenge.

For some, playoff success is paramount. In a zero-sum league, how a team reacts when the competition ratchets up will define a coach's tenure. Fail too many times on the biggest stage, and they enter limbo as a good coach who can't get a team over the hump.

For others, even in a lost campaign, it's about proving that they're the right person to steer the ship into a brighter future.

The final six weeks will reaffirm or break the narratives surrounding a host of coaches. Let's take a gander at 10 with the most to prove down the stretch.

Birmingham City - 2022

Birmingham City: Maxi Lopez consortium pulls out of bid to buy Blues
hutananak35's insight:

The prospective new owners of Birmingham City, Paul Richardson and Maxi Lopez, have withdrawn their offer to buy the club, reports BBC Radio WM.

In a statement they said that, after due diligence work, they had failed to renegotiate the terms of their original agreement with Blues' current owners.

Businessman Richardson and ex-Barcelona striker Lopez began talks in July.

They said they were "bitterly disappointed" and have been left with "no alternative".

The Championship club have been owned by China-based Birmingham Sports Holdings Limited since 2016.

They bought the club as Trillion Trophy Asia to become their second successive ownership from Asia, following Carson Yeung's ownership.

The consortium involving Lopez and local clothing brand owner Richardson had been negotiating for four months to try and buy the club.

Lopez claimed in July that his consortium had paid a deposit and exchanged contracts to buy a 21% stake. The indication was that they were already at the club, making decisions.

But the proposed takeover remained under investigation by the English Football League (EFL).

"Following several months of due diligence at Birmingham City Football Club, Maxco has decided not to proceed with the purchase of the shareholding and stadium of BCFC at this time," the statement said.

"In light of the due diligence we attempted to renegotiate the terms of the original agreements to reflect our understanding of the current business status, but we could not agree revised terms with the current owners.

"We have been left with no alternative and are bitterly disappointed as we know what this club means to the community and the very loyal fanbase.

"We really hope that BCFC finds a owner who is as passionate about the club as we are."
