NTHU Scholarship Ceremony

NTHU Scholarship Ceremony | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

The National Tsing Hua University Belize Educational Service Group was in Cayo doing community service projects for 6 weeks this Summer.  While here, they visited 11 local schools to meet with their principals, and help out with various projects.  They come to Belize every year, and stress the importance of education, and they continually find ways to use computers to increase education in the local schools. They donated computers, laptops, and projectors to the 11 schools.

This year, they also awarded 4 scholarships to local students so they could go to high school.  The ceremony was carried out at Sacred Heart College's auditorium.  The Taiwanese Ambassador, Benjamin Ho, was instrumental in this year's activities, and gave a wonderful speech on community service.  Thank you, NTHU, for all you have done in Cayo over the years.  See you next year.

Taiwanese Volunteers in Cayo for Social Programs | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Taiwan has another great student group visiting Belize.  They are here longer this year, and have projects planned around Cayo, including San Antonio.  They have a great lineup of community service projects planned.  Thanks, NTHU!

"Each year, through the sponsorship of the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), approximately two hundred volunteer groups from various universities in Taiwan are sent abroad to assist communities in public and private sector initiatives. On Sunday, for the fourth year consecutively, a group of twelve students from the National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan arrived in Belize. Bringing with them twenty-six desktop computers, eleven notebooks and various school bags and stationery, the group will spend the next thirty-five days volunteering in rural Cayo District. The students, all have training in various subject areas and will be providing IT courses and partaking in cultural exchanges. Today, the Taiwanese volunteers were officially welcomed by newly installed Ambassador, Benjamin Ho at the Embassy in Belize City."
