Dateline Bangalore - Literature on iPod? - Lifestyle - DNA

Dateline Bangalore - Literature on iPod? - Lifestyle - DNA | Audiobook Business News | Scoop.it
I can’t imagine a drive to work minus all the music that radio channels queue up in between all their chatter. Irrespective of whether the compositions are great, they manage to sooth the nerves — enough to deal with the challenge of battling through Bangalore’s traffic through peak hours. So when a certain Jai Madhukar Zende walked in at the office one day to share his new concept that had a lot to do with my drive time, I listened — first skeptically and then curiously.

What’s black, white and read all over? A book. What’s pageless, the size of a credit card, battery operated and read all over? A book.

What’s pageless, the size of a credit card, battery operated and read all over? A book.

It might be a weak punchline, but it’s a Playaway audio book and a hit at Eagle Ridge Junior High School. Jean Klatte, the school’s media center specialist, introduced students to the Playaways last month and since then she can’t keep the 26 titles on the shelves.

Top audiobooks for May

Top audiobooks for May | Audiobook Business News | Scoop.it
I approach novels set in the First World War with caution as so many use the death and misery of millions simply to bring drama into an otherwise banal story but MY DEAR I WANTED TO TELL YOU by Louisa Young (Harper, 10hrs, £19.99 CD, download available) is one of the exceptions.

The Future Is Daisy

The Future Is Daisy | Audiobook Business News | Scoop.it
As an inveterate lover of audiobooks, i know that they can be just as much a pleasure as their print counterparts. Audiobooks fit neatly into my life to stop me from getting bored in my car, give me company when I'm doing mundane tasks around the house, calm my nerves while I wait at the dentist's, or to read to me when I want to give my eyes a rest. Okay, I made up the one about the dentist. I refuse to go to the dentist. But the rest is true.

Dude, Where’s My Audiobook? : literatehousewife.com

Dude, Where’s My Audiobook? : literatehousewife.com | Audiobook Business News | Scoop.it
I was in my car on a nice sunny day. I went to turn on my car radio and there wasn’t an audiobook cued up. I glanced over to the passenger seat, but there wasn’t a case in sight. I pulled my phone out of my purse and went straight to my Audible app. It was empty and I had no available credits. I started to panic and began berating myself for leaving the house without an audiobook on hand. Somehow I knew the library was closed and I just felt lost.
