Taylor Swift Folklore made $1.2m in three days... from one Chinese DSP

Taylor Swift Folklore made $1.2m in three days... from one Chinese DSP | 3.5 Audio News Collection | Scoop.it
Taylor Swift's new album 'Folklore' may have been a surprise release, but its popularity is entirely unsurprising: more than 1.3m sales in 24 hours.

Quamika Wyatts insight:
Marketing and popularity is a huge thing in the industry. I think she's a great artist but I also didn't hear about the album until they stated that she said something about Kanye West being a clown. With what Kanye is going through right now, there's a possibility that Taylor used West's name for clout and sales.

Music streaming service posts positive figures in face of competition from Apple and Amazon

Quamika Wyatts insight:
This is important to the music industry period. We have Apple Music, pandora, tidal, etc and Spotify has worked it's way up! I believe Spotify has become successful so fast because it allowed all artists to stream their music on a free platform.
Rodriquez Sumter's curator insight, August 14, 2018 9:58 AM
Spotify started out at the bottom of the chain. The services were free at one point in time. Now they are on top surpassing Apple, Napster, etc.
Anthony Cain's curator insight, September 12, 2018 4:51 PM
This recent post back in July states that Spotify has 83 million subscribers which is huge. In my opinion it makes more sense for artists to stream music through these kinds of outlets to build fan bases.

Nicki Minaj's "Come See About Me" Had Safaree Samuels "Crying Like A B***h" | 3.5 Audio News Collection | Scoop.it
After laughter comes tears. Shiggy really made things awkward for Safaree one day ago. The residual effect is still being felt today. Shiggy, the 'In my Feelings' sensation, has somehow become a regular partisan, brushing shoulders with everyone from Drake to Fabolous. But how did end up consortin

Quamika Wyatts insight:
Nicki Minaj was with Safari since before her career jumped off. After breaking up he joined LHHNY and started dating Erica Mena. Safari is known for doing the most for attention so his response to "Come See About Me" may have been fake.
Rodriquez Sumter's curator insight, August 13, 2018 5:16 PM
When speaking on celebrities there are a lot of publicity stunts that takes place in the music industry. Being that Safarree is most popular from being Nicki Minaj’s ex, he is also known mostly from rumors. I feel like his feelings towards the song may not be real. I think it’s just something to keep his name relevant.
