Why the Music Industry Doesn't Care About Selling Music Anymore... - Digital Music News

Why the Music Industry Doesn't Care About Selling Music Anymore... - Digital Music News | New Artist Having Problems Getting Noticed | Scoop.it
The following guest post comes from Jeff Price, founder of both spinART and TuneCore.  His latest company, Audiam, has a mission to get artists...
Austin Gilstraps insight:

This article explains how the music industry has stopped caring so much about the actual artists and only cares about where the money is coming from or how to rip artists of the money they deserve. Its getting harder and harder to make money in this industry and for new artists its even harder. Nowadays you may as well make a nice hoe studio and learn to do it yourself. Big studios are no longer becoming a central area of getting things done and are dropping off like flies. Its hard to trust big labels sometimes especially for new artists. This article is also from Digital Music News the same as two of my other articles.

Study Finds That Piracy Is Growing Rapidly and Becoming More Profitable... - Digital Music News

Study Finds That Piracy Is Growing Rapidly and Becoming More Profitable... - Digital Music News | New Artist Having Problems Getting Noticed | Scoop.it
Streaming services may be paying you pennies, but at least they’re lowering piracy.  But what if that isn’t true? Enter Envisional, the research arm of NetNames...
Austin Gilstraps insight:

This article talk about how piracy of music is not only becoming much larger but these sites that are offering this music for free are profiting very much from advertisements. This is an issue for new artists because whatever they put out on the internet can easily be stolen and illegally downloaded. Not being big artists yet they don't have a lot of help when it comes to people stealing their music. This is a big issue in the music industry and a huge cause of why labels are dropping off and why artists aren't making near as much as they used to. I wont lie i have pirated music as pretty much everyone has, but this month has shifted my view and i can honestly say i will no longer steal music. Every time i do i am only hurting my own future. This article is from the same source as all my other articles. This site has proven to be very knowledgeable and credible.

The Music Industry Has 99 Problems. And They Are... - Digital Music News

The Music Industry Has 99 Problems. And They Are... - Digital Music News | New Artist Having Problems Getting Noticed | Scoop.it

"26. It’s harder than ever for a newer artist to get noticed."

Austin Gilstraps insight:

This article talks on how it is harder for new artists to get noticed. In this big world anyone can just make a song or a beat and upload it to the internet, thus making it harder to weed out the bad from the good. New artists typically don't have a lot of money or even day jobs for that matter, making it very hard on them. This source is a credible source, it has plenty of music industry news and this article is from this year. The author of the article is qualified and is the founder of the sight itself.

Streaming Isn't Saving the Music Industry After All, Data Shows... - Digital Music News

Streaming Isn't Saving the Music Industry After All, Data Shows... - Digital Music News | New Artist Having Problems Getting Noticed | Scoop.it
(source: RIAA) Yes, streaming is reversing recording industry declines… in countries like Sweden and Norway.  But it’s still not happening in the largest music markets,...
Austin Gilstraps insight:

This article points out the factual issue of streaming music. Research shows that streaming music has taken a huge hit on the industry and i causing a loss in all aspects. Normal consumers are respecting convenience over quality. I believe that streaming music should not be ok. I feel that everything should have to be paid for through iTunes where the artist is actually making a profit of their music. The royalties for the music played is a joke. This affects new artists is a negative way because why would consumers search for and buy your music when they can listen to all the popular songs for free on Pandora? This is a credible site and is also from Digital Music News.

How to Get Noticed and Make Money Using Cover Songs... - Digital Music News

How to Get Noticed and Make Money Using Cover Songs... - Digital Music News | New Artist Having Problems Getting Noticed | Scoop.it
The following comes from Jeremie Varengo, CEO of JTV Digital.   You all know or have heard about artists getting noticed after releasing a...
Austin Gilstraps insight:

Basically this article is all about how to get noticed as an artist by using cover songs. Personally I feel that yes, this is an effective way to get noticed, but I feel as if it kind of sucks that it has come to where one of the only ways to get noticed anymore is to remake an already popular song. Your original work doesn't get heard anymore until you've made a good cover song. Obviously this isn't always true but today you just cant rely anymore on big labels. This article is from the same site as my main article and is credible.
