Apple has today released iOS 17.3 and iPadOS 17.3 to the public. The iOS 17.3 release notes simply state that “this update introduces additional security measures with Stolen Device Protection. This release also includes a new Unity wallpaper to honor Black history and culture in celebration of Black History Month, as well as other features, bug fixes, and security updates for your iPhone.” Stolen Device Protection adds an additional layer of security in the event someone has stolen your iPhone and also obtained the device's passcode.

A small business in Maine started receiving letters from attorneys in New York according to a WGME story . These attorneys offered to help Lisa-Marie’s Made in Maine  with a lawsuit against them. The business had no idea what this was about. They thought it was a scam.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t. The business received court papers. They stated a blind person named Andrew Toro couldn’t buy a t-shirt on their website. This business wasn’t alone. The name “Andrew Toro” appears on more than 100 federal lawsuits filed with the New York Southern District.

UNILEVER PARTNERS WITH BE MY EYES TO INTRODUCE AI-ASSISTED COOKING FOR BLIND AND LOW VISION SHOPPERS - Tech & Digital

Unilever has partnered with the accessibility app specialist Be My Eyes, the developer of accessibility solutions apps that connects people who are blind or low-vision to a world network of volunteers and AI-powered virtual assistance, to expand their use of AI technology to add powerful new tools to the cooking experience of their products for shoppers who are blind or have low vision. The new partnership builds on addition of on-pack Accessible QR (AQR), developed by computer vision specialists Zappar, to Unilever's Persil and Colman's products in the UK last year and is part of Unilever's global connected pack strategy, which includes using new digital experiences and technology to evolve and differentiate the way shoppers interact with and use Unilever's products.

For some researchers, personal experience sparks innovation. “Since childhood, I’ve had issues seeing in low light,” says Lehigh University Professor Vinod Namboodiri. “And I always wondered about people who are completely blind: How do they get around? So as an academic with a background in computing, wireless communications, and networks, I knew I had the skills and the personal connection that could help me solve a problem faced by so many people with disabilities—how to confidently get from point A to point B when inside unfamiliar spaces.”
