Concerts Aren’t Back. Livestreams Are Ubiquitous. Can They Do the Job?

Concerts Aren’t Back. Livestreams Are Ubiquitous. Can They Do the Job? | Artsfile | Scoop.it
With no return date for shows in sight, fans and artists are adapting to a new way of experiencing music together. Whether it’ll keep everyone satisfied — and paid — is still unclear.
Angela Thompson's curator insight, September 19, 2020 8:54 PM
The article accounts for the biggest critique of the livestream concerts being, will people pay for them? This can either be the downfall or the incline of this industry itself. Basing an industry that partially relies on live performance for income and fan base building can be a forced norm if we don’t have these other opportunities to expand and become available to the public. Not only this, but the less people have to spend on hotels or food before and after the event in the area, the more they have to spend on a livestream event. Not only this, but the experience can be priced much lower with more traffic pulled in all over the world.
Maxwell Torgeson's curator insight, November 25, 2020 3:13 PM
The question is more of will people still attend live streamed concerts after covid when people are able to meet in such large groups for live concerts.
