Why MDM is Essential for BCBS239 Compliance | Agility & Information Management | Scoop.it

Why Master Data Management is the first step towards BCBS239 compliance

Tracey's insight:

This useful blog article from Informatica's Kate Tickner is well worth a read as it outlines how an MDM initiative can provide invaluable support in meeting the requirements of BCBS239 and give senior management an accurate and in-depth picture of the risks a bank faces. Kate outlines the key points for consideration and where MDM comes in. The article also contains a lot of very useful links to supporting information. Well worth bookmarking, I'd say...

What Exactly is a “360-Degree View of the Customer”?
Tracey's insight:

Another area for discussion at Informatica World 2016 will be to look at what constitutes a 360 view of a customer and why we might need that. Clearly it's important to view this from an information perspective and how that information is presented. It's also key to remember who will be using this 360 view so with that in mind, here's a perspective from the world of the call centre where good customer information can be the difference between great customer service and mediocre.

Informatica Thinks Marketing Should Get Its Own Data Lake | Agility & Information Management | Scoop.it

There’s the pressing need to break down silos in organisations. But will technology pick up the pieces only to build new ones?

Tracey's insight:

An interesting view from Informatica regarding the need for functions who deal with large amounts of unstructured and semi-structured data, like Marketing, to have their own data lake to allow rapid manipulation and analysis. Care must be taken of course not to replace one siloed world with another and approached in the right way, a successful outcome can be achieved.

IoT Success: Sharing Data and Analytics Fuels Growth | Agility & Information Management | Scoop.it

A report from the MIT Sloan Management Review finds that companies that share data from their internet of things projects are better positioned to take advantage

Tracey's insight:

IoT projects spawn vast amounts of data and this MIT report found that companies that share data are in a much better position to grow and profit from IoT initiatives. Specifically, 66% of companies surveyed said that they are sharing data with not only customers, but also suppliers and competitors. and the beneficial effect of doing this has been marked. This supports a previous observation we've made about being wary about siloed and isolated IoT initiatives and rather looking to creating an IoT framework that spans the enterprise and its entire value chain.

Tracey's insight:

An interesting take  on innovation culture in the modern business. To my mind, this should be embedded in every area of an organisation and not restricted to a special team. If you're, like me, old enoough to remember the emergence of just in time manufacturing in the late 70s/early 80s, the whole point was that everyone the company, from security to the gatekeepers, were encouraged to come up with ideas for increasing product quality, customer service, delivery etc. In order to foster this pan-enterprise innovation approach, it must be supported by excellent communications, good knowledge capture and integrated, trustworthy information management frameworks.
