While Pokémon GO has became a cultural phenomenon, it is not the first, nor the last, augmented reality application.
Elaine Weseman's curator insight, September 17, 2023 8:13 PM
"Pokémon Go!" When I saw this headline, my interest was piqued. What other apps use augmented reality as seamlessly as Pokémon Go? Turns out, quite a few. Most are game-related but others involve shopping. All of them involve socially interacting with others. Social interaction is exactly what the world needs more of -- interaction with people. After COVID, we are still learning how to socialize with others in a less fearful stance, and games like these can help to calm our anxieties about hanging out with people.

Las rubricas son muy útiles al momento de objetivar criterios de evaluación para calificar. Su construcción puede ser un poco mas tediosa, de modo que las herramientas que lo facilitan son bienvenidas
Laura Duque's curator insight, February 19, 2020 10:01 AM
I find this article useful because I personally do  not like using word for rubrics since it can become very time consuming. this article gives me tools to create said rubrics in an eaier way. My favourite tool out of the 5 suggested is For All Rubrics since it allows students to view their results in the rubrics without having to print them, It also has a very easy to understand interface which makes it easy for me and students to use it without much problem.

Millennials have been taught to speak up and express their opinions. Their experiences online have taught them that opinions and ways of working can and should be

I scooped this article because as I interviewed teachers this year, I felt like many of them were so YOUNG! I couldn't believe how old I was, or least how old I felt compared to how young they were. This article references the differences in their thinking and working style and it's a good article for me to read and understand.  When they speak out, its not out of disrespect, it's because they've grown up being told to speak out.  I hope that this article sheds light on the new generation of teachers and educators for those of us that have been in the race a bit longer, and those of us who don't understand all of the nuances that we see with this generation.

3 Powerful Apps for Creating Green Screen Videos with Students | #Creativity #ModernEDU  | 21st Century Tools for Teaching-People and Learners | Scoop.it

Green screen is a cinematographic technique that allows video editors to add a variety of visual effects to their videos. These effects include : adding virtual backgrounds, superimposing subjects over animated backdrops, placing a subject on another shot and many more. Green screen technology has been widely used in weather and movie industry. But now with the emergence of apps such as the ones below, everyone can use this technology to create engaging clips and presentations. As Do Ink explained “

Green screen technology is used in the movies to make it look like the actors have landed on an alien planet, and it's used on TV to make it look like your local news announcer is standing in front of an animated weather map. The green screen effect works by combining images from multiple sources into a single video. These images can come from photos or videos in your camera roll, or from the live video camera. “ere to edit the content.

Session 65: What is the educational value of blogs, wikis and class/school websites?

Session 65: What is the educational value of blogs, wikis and class/school websites? | 21st Century Tools for Teaching-People and Learners | Scoop.it

Session Summary:

Wow… what a fast and furious end to September as the #ukedchat masses discussed all things bloggery!

There are a number of key #ukedchat contributors who have long advocated blogging as a tool for good. In this week’s discussion, they had a chance to convert the rest of us… and believe me, I think it worked!

People spoke overwhelmingly positively about the potential for blogs to offer pupils an audience for their writing, however it soon became clear that blogs can be used in so many different ways and have many different purposes and goals.

We discussed safety and workload concerns, how to use blogs to promote literacy and parental engagement and how blogging can improve pupils’ self-esteem. The doubters (of which I suppose I was one, having not really yet embraced blogging as a class tool…) were very quickly silenced as more and more educators tweeted about the positive impact blogging has had.

I can honestly say that this week’s #ukedchat discussion has given me so much inspiration. In fact, I’m now working on a plan to change my KS3 writers club into a blogging club!
