The Future of Learning - PDF Version : The Paradigm Shift

The Future of Learning - PDF Version : The Paradigm Shift | Zukunft des Lernens | Scoop.it

"This 200pp resource provides a window into the future of learning that is now urgently required in all schools - NOW! We need to prepare our young people for this century; a century where our learners are increasingly using YouTube to learn about what they need to learn, Just in Time; an era where our personal, social and work places are all experiencing enormous rates of change. How do we prepare learners a world that is increasingly complex; and one that is now demanding high levels of personal competency.

"This journey begins with an emerging model for how our brain learns. Understanding this background provides us with the capacity to defining what the Learning process looks like (formally referred to as the inquiry process).

"The human brain is extraordinary, but even more extraordinary is how little we have understood its capacity to learn. As humans, we alone have all four +(1) learning systems, allowing us to take our overwhelmingly rich sensory data to create knowledge and leverage that to build ideas and concepts and then apply those innovatively and ingeniously.

"The Learning Process harnesses this potential, allowing intelligence to be far more equitable than we ever imagined – "all learners are intelligent, and it is time everyone has the opportunity to fulfil the inherent potential that lays within."

"The physical copy of 'The Future of Learning' is accompanied with access to the electronic PDF version. The electronic version is updated every four months to ensure we are keeping you up to date with the very latest information on learning and how we can make that both relevant and equitable."

Neuroplasticity: The 10 Fundamentals Of Rewiring Your Brain

Neuroplasticity: The 10 Fundamentals Of Rewiring Your Brain | Zukunft des Lernens | Scoop.it
Brain plasticity is a two-way street; it is just as easy to generate negative changes as it is positive ones. You have a “use it or lose it” brain. It’s almost as easy to drive changes that impair memory and physical and mental abilities as it is to improve these things. Merzenich says that older people are absolute masters at encouraging plastic brain change in the wrong direction.

An anatomy of the Modern Learning Professional

An anatomy of the Modern Learning Professional | Zukunft des Lernens | Scoop.it

In 2017 I am hoping for change: but not as a result of VR, mobile or micro-learning. I am hoping that we will adopt new approaches and new ways of thinking about learning, that in turn allow us to design experiences and resources that inspire and support learning in new ways (regardless of the technology to hand).

During the last couple of decades we have begun the process of marrying a new conception of learning to new capability sets. The result has been to redefine the process of learning design and the range of learning formats that we produce. And we have made some progress - the ambition of shifting 'from courses to resources' has spread, since I first talked about it five years ago, and it's not uncommon to meet colleagues who are trying to effect this change.

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT

Alexa is a nice little gadget that uses artificial intelligence to understand language and answer questions. It has a vocabulary and skills but what may set it apart is the ability for anybody to develop new skills for the device. Any developer can add features to the devices which means that it may learn at an exponential rate. 15000 skills today is impressive but not yet amazing - although most skills are gadget.
