Finding the equation of a line when given two points is simple when you follow this procedure. Watch the video and apply this procedure to each set of co-ordinates below. 

 

(1,4) and (3,8)

(2,2) and (5,5)

(-3,6) and (4,10)

(-2,-1) and (5,3)

(0,5) and (7, -11)

 

When finished, comment below which two equations have the steepest gradient.

This video shows how to find what the x and y intercepts of a linear equation (straight line). Using both videos, complete the following tasks:

 

Can you find the equation of the line, the x-intercept and the y-intercept for the following co-ordinates?

 

(-4,-3) and (1,7)

(-2,1) and (4,-8)

(0,-4) and (2,4)

(-5,1) and (5,3)

(2,8) and (3,12)

(-5,17) and (-2,11)

 

 

-Using the program 'Graphmatica' (which should be installed on your laptops), graph the equations you have found above.

-Enter each co-ordinate given above into the 'Data Plot Editor' (found under 'View' along the top bar).

-Use the 'Snipping Tool' to capture all these points on the graphs and upload it to your blog, along with your answers to the following question. 

 

For the first set of co-ordinates, where does it intersect (cross) each of the other lines (found through 'Find Intersection' under 'Tools')?
