@blogilates: Juicing: Slimming Craze or Healthy Lifestyle? - YouTube

Hey guys! Today we're tackling the topic of JUICING!! Is it a diet fad or is it a healthy lifestyle? Will a 7 day juice fast help you permanently slim down? ...

Yilin Choo's insight:

Keeping fit and healthy living is all the rage now. One of the popular ways to keep a healthy diet is inculcate a juicing habit into one's everyday consumption.

Cassey's video focused more on the pros and cons of juicing, instead of introducing juice recipes that viewers at home can follow. To quote, juicing should be consumed "as a supplement to your whole healthy eat-clean diet". It is also clearly sponsored by Jamba Juice, as she starts raving about it when it has barely hit the halfway mark. To those who are not easily swayed by advertisers, this will seem like her enthusiasm is fuelled only by what Jamba Juice is paying her.

While she tries to encourage her audience to juice on their own, she offers them the alternative "convenient" method of purchasing a juice from Jamba, highlighting the contents of her juice. At the same time, Jamba Juice provided her with giveaway options to further entice viewers. From a fan girl's point of view, she probably already likes Cassey so she would be easily influenced by her. An opportunity to win a freebie will definitely lure her to interact.

By making use of hashtags such as #JuiceByJamba, the followers of those who took part in the contest might find themselves curious about what the hashtag is about, ultimately drawing even more attention to the video and Jamba Juice.

Yilin Choo's insight:

Many beauty gurus are going beyond just the hair and make up aspect, and preaching that beauty is more than skin deep. It is important to emphasise this, as quite a big number of their viewers can be tweenagers who are easily influenced by such opinion leaders. By encouraging wholesome recipe videos, these easy to follow tutorials can advocate healthy living to ward off and prevent health problems such as heart diseases or diabetes.

iJustine Believes Apple’s iWatch Will Be Bigger Than iPhone

iJustine Believes Apple’s iWatch Will Be Bigger Than iPhone | YouTube content producers | Scoop.it

"This fall, Apple will be unveiling its latest life-changing gadget: the iWatch. And who better to give us details about what we can expect than iJustine."

Yilin Choo's insight:

As a Youtube Personality, it is important that the content creators keep up with technology and are tech-savvy. Apart from hosting Hardwired on AOL, Justine is frequently trying out new gadgets, especially when it comes to using new cameras to film her daily vlogs. It is important to understand the market and know that viewers like high definition, well-produced videos as it is visually appealing. That said, however, Justine has acknowledged several times that she is not sponsored to use the products (except on her show), especially with regards to the number of Apple and Canon products that she owns.

Besides filming equipment, wearable technology is a current rising trend. To be on air with Ryan Seacrest discussing the up-and-coming iWatch proves that she must be extremely well-versed to be featured on the show. To quote Ryan Seacrest, "When anything happens in the tech world, it's not CNET, it's iJustine that we go to". There is no doubt that Ryan is an opinion leader, so his listeners can easily be influenced by what he says.

Headstands + Amazing Inner Thigh Workout!

Headstands + Amazing Inner Thigh Workout! | YouTube content producers | Scoop.it

In this post, Cassey talks about how she worked her way into headstands. The blogpost is accompanied by her "EXTREME INNER THIGHS" YouTube tutorial and another video featuring a collaboration with another YouTuber.

Yilin Choo's insight:

It is definitely not easy to learn and execute a headstand, so this is a great way to attract a reader's attention. Cassey's blogposts are usually filled with positive energy to spur on her readers. Since the emphasis of her posts are usually health and fitness related, she wants them to be equally energetic and be as enthusiasitc about working out as she is.

By including videos to her posts, she can garner more views for her videos. Collaborations with other YouTubers also enables her fans to know about the other Youtuber's content, and vice versa, allowing her content to be viewed by an even broader audience.

Yilin Choo's insight:

Kurt Hugo Schneider and his music partner Sam Tsui may come from America, but thanks to globalisation and the ubiquity of the Internet, people from all around the world have come to know of this YouTube sensation.

Their popularity has exploded to the extent that they have began touring in Asia, and this is definitely not the first year they have toured Asia.

@missglamorazzi: How I Style My Short Hair! - YouTube

Yep. I cut my hair again! This is how I style my shorter length :) P.S. Expand this for a sneaky giveaway!!! Super awesome coupon codes just for you! LUSTRUM...
Yilin Choo's insight:

Sponsored posts like these usually come with a discount coupon for viewers to use if they decide to purchase the product. Although sometimes it might seem like the video is filmed only for endorsement purposes, Missglamorazzi still has to have adequate product knowledge and be able to make use of the product well to fully entice others to buy it.

The use of a giveaway is also to accumulate more views and more interaction from viewers. Even though the money to purchase the giveaway products would come out of her own pocket, the revenue from the endorsement itself should definitely help cover those expenses and even profit from it.

@iJustine: Social Tech | Ep. 9 | HardWired 2.0 - YouTube

Follow iJustine for a day and see how she typically uses apps on the run, from purchasing her morning cup of coffee to crowdsourcing opinions on new clothes ...
Yilin Choo's insight:

As an Internet personality, it is important to keep up to date on social media platforms. In this video, iJustine introduces various apps such as the Starbucks app, Vine, Snapchat and Waze. She utilises such platforms to interact with her fans and followers, such as getting a vote on two outfit choices.

By introducing such apps, fans are more likely to hop on the bandwagon and install the apps as well to connect with her and keep up with the social media world. There is a likelihood that these apps are advertising with Aol, thus the feature on the episode.

Safe and Sound - Capital Cities (ft. Zendaya, Kina Grannis, Max Schneider) - ONE TAKE! - YouTube

Special thank to Zendaya, Max, Kina, and the awesome people at Coca-Cola for making this all happen! Explore the world of Ahh: http://bit.ly/1g1d69B I made t...

Yilin Choo's insight:

Collaborations with fellow YouTubers will maximize views on their videos. This video is also clearly sponsored by Coca Cola, and while it is not completely realistic when it comes to making music with cups and Coke bottles, it definitely showcases how musically inclined the artistes are. That said, the filming and post production work is also well done, given that it is a one-take.

Viewers are always focused on the final product - what goes on air. Most, if not all the time, they will not think about the amount of effort that goes into putting together a video. From the pre-production planning to the filming to the post production work, each step of the process takes up a lot of time and effort that can easily go unnoticed.

Strawburry17

Strawburry17 | YouTube content producers | Scoop.it
Yilin Choo's insight:

Strawburry17 is owned by Meghan Camarena. It used to be just the name of her Youtube channel; however, in 2014 it underwent a facelift and Strawburry17 is somewhat like a mini enterprise now. She has people taking over different segments of her channel: Anime, Reviews and DIY to name a few. Meghan is no longer fully in charge of all the content that goes onto Strawburry17 but has a whole team behind the brand, creating content and videos that are uploaded every day of the week.

While it is a lot of hard work, and definitely more work than ever before since it is now a daily production, it may not seem as personal for fans anymore as they originally subscribed to the channel to root for her. Instead, they seem to be rooting for the entire team. Indeed, production quality has gone up, but only because there are people hired and paid to do the job.

Do you guys think it's time for a follow and DM spree?! ;D Retweet today's awesome cosplay video and say hi! https://twitter.com/Strawburry17/status/486270156998316033 …;

Yilin Choo's insight:

For many fans, these producers are treated as their idols and they will stop at nothing to get the attention of their idols. In the social media world, it means having their idol tweet them, follow them or direct message (DM) them.

Meghan made use of the retweet of one of her new videos in exchange for follows and DMs to her fans and followers. While some may see it as a form of bribe, it is definitely a good form of advertising and reaching out to more viewers, all of which is at zero cost. That said however, she currently has a following of about 162K, but follows less than a 1000 people. So either she is only following a very small amount of people, or she might follow and subsequently unfollow her fans after the hype of the particular tweet and video dies down.
