Two types of exercise are important. Aerobics, also called cardio-vascular or sometimes just cardio, and strength or resistance training. Aerobics raise your heart rate for an extended period of time, while resistance training such as lifting free weights or using resistance machines build muscles. however you can do both at the same time, circuit training is a series of resistance exercises you do in a row with little or no break between them.
