Internet Familiarity

Internet Familiarity | You'll Never Know Unless You Try | Scoop.it

I thought I was already internet savvy. It turns out that almost everything amazes me. Maybe it has something to do with the fact technology innovation is so fast that I can barely keep up with the trends.

I'm pretty much familiar with Youtube and the photo editors, some online newspapers but that was about it. Everything was so new. I particularly enjoy Jibjab and to think that this is the exact topic that me my colleagues were laughing at.

I felt like an internet novice. I enjoyed this term. :)

Customers are Now the Game Changers

My sister works in the airline industry and she knows all the loopholes, those that go wrong, and those that can be corrected but go unnoticed. Customers are integral part of every operation; therefore, it is important that customers be placed in the foremost priority.

How many times have you been frustrated with Philippine airports? Not once, right? Now tell me how many times have you been a disgruntled customer? Not once again. Hear out this guy. Why is Canada a lucrative place to live in? Mainly because they alway put people first. Listen to this guy and see what I'm rambling about.

No Frills BNET | You'll Never Know Unless You Try | Scoop.it

A site that you and I can fall in love with! I cannot thank you enough for introducing this site. The forecast for housing spending is there. The foreign exchange rates are there. Saving tips are there. What can you ask for?

Bnet’s approach is straightforward and you do not have to go through a pile junk to know what you are looking for. This is what every MBA student should read. Economy is not something we should forget about. I am definitely going to include this in my daily dose of Inquirer andStar. It’s time to take learning a notch higher.

A New Breed of Game Players

No offenses meant. I have a pretty decent idea of what cloud computing is  based on my Infoman professor's discussions,  and Johnny Ong's business presentation. But upon reading a scientific definition of what it is, layman, seems an apt word. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_computing

Allow me to share what I have learned (there are some interjections which are not necessarily true but is the view of the writer.)

Cloud computing is a term that boomed in the world of technology that provide computation, software, data access, and storage that do not require a hard drive or a physical storage. It makes online publishing and online work less expensive and more efficient because it does not require new infrastructure, training new personnel, and licensing software.

Not everything in cloud computing is free. Apps can be purchased at a minimum cost, compared to an upfront investment for software. An excellent pro is that data can be accessed using any different devices such as desktop, laptops, iPads, and even mobile phone without requiring the users to save a file in all equipment.

This means that this is the time where can eliminate the cost of software, external hard drives, and even thumb drives. It is said that cloud computing is in each early stage. It is very exciting to see innovation come about. However, as software become readily available and inexpensive, the demand for a high-end gadget to access the files and apps are required. Thus, nothing really is free.

Then there is Social Media. Who can forget Friendster? Come on, admit it or not, you were once a member who asked for testimonials. But those where the days that we did not know better. Now, social media is used, not just for personal interactions, but for business opportunities. How amazing is Linkedin? Have you already signed up? http://ph.linkedin.com/ This is one big database of potential bosses and potential clients and whole big possibility of Can be's. :)

Blogs. Have you ever blogged or tweeted or ranted online? I have. And I've read several that are more agressive than mine? They say Chicboy is the latest star. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150528208361303.431874.616451302&type=3 And who could forget Christopher Lao's floating car and how social media destroyed his credibility? Blogs could eitther make or break you. I hope we use it for the latter.

About the Author

About the Author | You'll Never Know Unless You Try | Scoop.it

I have been a dreamer of grand things. I wanted to be an astronaut and discover some unknown planet, a doctor to cure cancer, a lawyer to pass an awesome legislation, and a writer to win the Nobel Prize. I wanted everything at once. My Mom asked me to take it easy, my Dad scrambled to equip me with whatever knowledge that’s required to achieve the almost impossible, and ,my sisters sighed and watched me do my thing.

I’m Maria Isabelle Umali Gacho – Donut to my family and Isa to colleagues. I’m 23 years old, born on June 29, 1988 in Manila. I’m a daughter of Head Engineer and a Director. I’m a middle child, and no, I’m not a black sheep. (But I’m extremely competitive when the mood strikes me.) I have a nurse-turnened-call-center-agent-turning-fashion-designer older sister and economist and bossy baby sister.

I’m a Relationship Manager of Electronic Yellow Pages and I handle several accounts from all over the country. I’m in charge of planning, return of investment, and overall satisfaction of clients. I also worked as a Business Development Officer and Account Executive for a private company in Makati.

I’m a graduate student of De La Salle University- Manila, taking up Post Grad Diploma in Management. I considered pursuing Master in Business Administration but I figured out that my heart is and will always be in Communication – Development and Organization. I graduated as a scholar with citations from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila with a degree in Mass Communication, specializing in Public Relations. A Laguna girl from childhood, I took up my grade school and high school in Holy Spirit and La Consolacion respectively.

I’m planning on launching my own business. I’m looking at doing so next year. The plan is already in my mind and in my heart, the people involved are already informed and I’m very much excited with what’s about to happen.

My strength lies in my imagination and writing skills. My grammar and diction are my tools in the job and I’m very good in getting along with people. I’m looking at employment for a few more years for training and connections. Pretty soon, I’ll go solo and change the game.

Maybe you and I will be colleagues someday.

Advantages of posting Youtube as a Learning Resource

Advantages of posting Youtube as a Learning Resource | You'll Never Know Unless You Try | Scoop.it

This is the part where we sing Youtube praises.

Youtube is convenient and at the same time, it is free. You let the video do the talking. Why? I'm 23. Is my innovation knowledge extensive? Then there is the late Steve Jobs who changed the industry. He is definitely a million times more credible than I am. If he had lived, would I have been able to invite him as resource spreaker? Probably not. (Honestly, definitely not. Haha.) But with Youtube, I can play his talking. He is talking about the same thing but he need not be actually present to get his message across. He need not fly to the other side of the world to tell us to not be afraid of changing the industry. And truth be told, part of why he is very notorious is because Social Media hyped his achievement. And it definitely worked for him.

Change - the Game You Play

A Financial Advisor once said that two things are constant - debt and taxes. I say there are three - debt, taxes, and change. And change almost always has cost attached to it. Why, then, should company invest in change? It will keep evolving. And no, you can't stop it. So why? Listen to this guy and tell me if you are convinced.

Old School Blogger

Old School Blogger | You'll Never Know Unless You Try | Scoop.it

Blogger is a blog site of Google. I have not tried it, but I was able to browse through the page. It’s pretty decent. The look is a old-school though. And since this blog is about honesty, I’ll tell you that I have never blogged in this site. I’ve read blog here but I have not written here.

I was a big Multiply fan. I have two accounts that I update with pictures and what-not’s so it extremely pains me to know that Multiply veered from being an avenue to share your life to being a virtual mall. No, make that virtual tiangge.

And no matter how much I pray that the old Multiply returns, I would have to find a new avenue. And by the way, scoop.it trumps Multiply, Blogger, and Tumblr big time! But Blogger is a good alternative beginners (Oh the irony of it all! )

Prezi Presentation

Prezi Presentation | You'll Never Know Unless You Try | Scoop.it

Prezi is amazing. I first saw this during my first term in DLSU and I was awed by my teammate's creative presentation, totally blown away by his creativity and the brilliance of the visual aid. It almost brought my powerpoint presentation to shame. (Not a good feeling, I'm telling you)

Impact. That is the word that best defines Prezi. It gives a new impact to the presentation and the speaker. It's an innovation. Imagine looking at one box and inside that box is a circle that contains a rectangle that houses Godzilla. Impossible, right? Well in this case, wrong. Try Prezi and blow your mnd away with the awesome presentation  that I know you'll create.
