Meditation.  We are constantly reminded about the benefits of mindfulness to our emotional, mental and spiritual well-being.  Now we can add a physical element to that list.

 

"A collaborative study conducted by researchers from France, Spain and Wisconsin is the first to show molecular changes in the body occurring following a period mindfulness meditation." 

 

Of two groups -- one engaged in focused mindfulness practice -- the other engaged in quiet non-meditative activity -- the study revealed that after just 8 hours of practice, the mindfulness meditators showed a "range of genetic and molecular differences".  And these differences were observed only in the meditators.

 

Yet another valuable reason to cultivate calmness of mind.
