A Translation Guide to Foreign Policy Gibberish - By Micah Zenko

A Translation Guide to Foreign Policy Gibberish - By Micah Zenko | Global Politics - Yemen | Scoop.it
Wondering what is meant by 'all options are on the table'? A spokesperson will 'look into that' for you.

Evaluating U.S. foreign policy starts with the tricky task of understanding what U.S. foreign policy actually is. Analysts endowed with great forbearance can listen to the question-and-answer sessions with spokespersons from the White House, the State Department, or the Pentagon. These folks have the unenviable task of putting forward the best case for administration policies, while providing as little newsworthy information as possible.

Oh, George, George! Where are you when we need you?

US gunman 'had mental health issues'

US gunman 'had mental health issues' | Global Politics - Yemen | Scoop.it
The ex-US Navy reservist who killed 12 people at a US Navy building in Washington DC was treated for mental health issues, US media report.
earthdog58's insight:

OK, not really global or especially political, but ...

10/10 in today's "Stating the €#¢&•¡¶ Obvious in a Headline" competition.

"Former US Navy reservist Aaron Alexis, 34, was treated for paranoia, hearing voices and sleeplessness"

" ... he had had several run-ins with the law and had been discharged from the Navy under a cloud, authorities said."

And yet he had passed every clearance check to give him access to the site, and had no problems buying the guns.

When is the USA going to grow up and get over its obsession with sublimated male genitalia?
