Alysha Childs's comment, July 8, 2013 12:16 AM
We really need to come up with an alternative to sticking kids in overcrowded correction facilities. This concept that we have that sticking kids in jail in order to scare them has obviously failed, and now we need to find an alternative that will help to allow juvenile offenders to stay in society and not reoffend. Sending kids to jail tells kids that they’re a bad kid, and it gives them that identity at a time when they are young and searching for a way to identify themselves. We need alternatives that will help kids make better choices in their future, while repairing the harm that they’ve done by committing the crime.
