Picking an Effective Kindle Book Niche 101

Picking an Effective Kindle Book Niche 101 | Writing for Kindle | Scoop.it
For something as important as choosing which Kindle book market or niche to enter – which can have drastic effects on the difficulty or breaking into Amazon’s vaunted Top 1,000 – you certainly wouldn’t know it from the lack of information about it...
Penelope's insight:

I think many people struggle to begin their writing for Kindle, because of all the confusion out there about how to pick a niche. Here are 3 things to think about:

1) What type of niches? (Look for active buyers)

2) Not Your Typical Strategy (find popular niches)

3) Importance of Rankings (Amazon will push your book higher in the rankings)

No matter what, don't let any of this keep you from writing your book. If you have a subject you are passionate about, then by jove, get to writing!

Storytelling--The #1 Business Skill Of The Next 5 Years - Writing for Kindle

Storytelling--The #1 Business Skill Of The Next 5 Years - Writing for Kindle | Writing for Kindle | Scoop.it

Last year, a pale woman with crazy eyebrows and a keytar strapped to her back made a video of herself, wearing a kimono and holding up hand-Sharpied signs on a street in Melbourne."

Via Dr. Karen Dietz
Penelope's insight:

Amazon is the #1 book seller in the world, and for good reason. They make it incredibly easy (Kindles) to provide the masses what they are looking for. What is that? Inspiring and thought-provoking stories. (ebooks)

Everyone has a story in them. Don't think so? Think back over your life. There's a story. Did you leave home and attend college? There's a bunch of stories. Have you worked? There's a story. Been married? Had children? There's another story. It doesn't feel interesting enough to you? Spice it up and sell it as fiction.

Find your story, Write your story. Use the inspiration of your story to inspire others. Publish your story as a Kindle book. You can do it.

Six Things You Should Be Including in Your EBook (and Probably Aren’t) by David Kudler explains how to leverage your current readers and sell more books
Penelope's insight:

Great advice to follow BEFORE you get that ebook written and uploaded to the digital marketplace.

Do these first:

1) Create a dedicated web page for your book — on your own site, or on any other site that you like (if you are working through a publishing services company, they’ll create one for you).

2) Create a cover for your book.

3) Create a GoodReads page for your book (or, if your book has been published before, for this edition of your book).

Then, use the bonus HTML codes provided to swipe clickable links to build into your ebook and send readers where you want them to go.
