11 Ways to De-Stress Based on How Much Time You Can Spare | Write | Scoop.it

April is National Stress Awareness Month, thus a good reminder to breathe and relax.

As humans, we face stressful events and situations every day, from traffic in our morning commute to deadlines we're rushing to meet — and it only seems to be getting worse. The American Institute of Stress reports that 44% of Americans feel more stressed than they did five years ago.

Ten Honest Tips for Entrepreneurs

Ten Honest Tips for Entrepreneurs | Write | Scoop.it

Business is hard, demanding, and often much less rewarding than we thought it would be. Social media may open doors, but it won't do anything for you if you are not willing to make it work no matter what.

If you have ever watched "Shark Tank," you know the kind of entrepreneur Robert Herjavec is. He stays true to his television "persona" in this article. The tips he delivers are not only realistic but also a good wake-up call to anyone who feels that solo-entrepreneurship is for everyone.

The quote below is tip #2: "Test before you jump in"

"Don't ask your mom, your wife, your friends, your barber what they think — those are opinions (and often biased one’s at that!). Test the idea with the only people who really matter: the ones who are going to cut you a cheque for it. Call on some potential clients and see if they will buy whatever it is you’re selling."

A very good post to bookmark and revisit occasionally. Read it at https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/article/20141129135810-3945137-my-top-ten-tips-for-entrepreneurs

Why Millennials Want To Work For Themselves

Why Millennials Want To Work For Themselves | Write | Scoop.it

Or do they? Millennials want to work on their own terms--without a bad boss micromanaging their every move.

In the 15 years I’ve been teaching MBA students, their career plans have changed dramatically. Until the early 2000s they aspired to work in traditional corporate jobs for companies like Deloitte, JPMorgan, and GE. After that, the top destinations became tech giants such as Apple, Google, and Facebook.

In the past few years; however, a new favorite career choice has emerged, which eclipses any other form of traditional employment--working for themselves or launching their own business.

Leadership Is Swell, But Your Receptionist Makes Or Breaks Your Business

Leadership Is Swell, But Your Receptionist Makes Or Breaks Your Business | Write | Scoop.it

Why does company after company – including companies that I encounter as a customer experience consultant – treat reception as an entry-level, stepping-stone position?

This approach, which I see all the time in companies who hire me as a customer experience consultant, is an inevitable, slow-motion business catastrophe. Because, whatever you call it, ‘‘First and Last Impression Creator’’ is among the most important positions in your enterprise.

Do You Know Why You Collaborate?

Do You Know Why You Collaborate? | Write | Scoop.it

There’s no point in collaborating if you don’t know why you’re doing it. This may seem obvious, but not enough companies think about the "why" of collaboration before rushing in to buy technology.
Collaboration changes enterprise processes. There’s no point in collaborating if you don’t know why you're doing it.  The line between traditional structured processes and unstructured processes is starting to blur. What was once structured, orderly information exchanges and processes have become unstructured information swaps that change with every new process initiated.
