Troy and Heather are both financial planners they work at Sun Life Financial both of them didn’t know that they wanted to become a financial planner right away it took time for them to figure it out but now they are happy with their decision. To become a financial planner there are a bunch of courses you can take which are the Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Financial Planning I & II (FPI & FPII), Financial planning Capstone Course and Life License Qualification program (LLQP). By doing those course you will become a certified financial planner (CFP) keep in mind that you have to be a certain age and it takes 3 years to complete the program. Lastly the max salary that you should expect is $300,000 up to $400,000 and $500,000 a year.

Lucy Reis has been a nurse for 5 years; she came into a local school to talk about nursing. She talked about all the types of nurses, PSW which is a college certificate, RPN: college diploma, RN: university degree, RN (EC): post grad diploma (shift to Master’s prepared), Advanced Practicing RN: Master’s prepared and PhD: post grad 5-7 years. Lucy got into detail off what each type of nurse does and she also explained that you can always bridge off to another section of nursing. Lucy also got into the salaries you should be expecting when you start your job in nursing for PSW’s the average is $18.00/hr, RPN’s average $23.00/hr, RN’s average $29.50/hr and can go up to $44.00/hr, RN (EC) average $42.00/hr can go up to $53.00/hr, advanced practicing RN average $42.00/hr keep in mind some of these wages depend on employer. Lucy encourages students to learn about nursing and possibly pursue it as a career because nursing will always be around.

A recent interview with Cst. John Gilbert he explained the process of becoming a police officer and how much dedication you have to have to become a cop. He said that there is an applicant testing services fee which is $200.00 then you undergo a bunch of tests like an intellect test which includes 90 questions that you must complete in 90 minutes, fitness test have to at least get a 6.5 on the beep test, interpersonal, hearing, vision and you need a certificate to hand in with application. John then explains the application process which includes a spelling test: 40 random words from a 566 word bank you need a 75% to pass in 30 minutes, 4.6 interviews including: chief of police – chief & deputy chief, psychological assessment – psychiatrist, ECI – 5 questions – 3 hours and T/F – 700 questions. Lastly before you get officially hired reference check interviews have to be done. People who think being a cop is such an easy job is wrong it takes a lot of dedication and strength to become a cop.
