Real-World Data Published in Clinical Cardiology Show Consistent Safety Performance of Once-Daily XARELTO® | Johnson & Johnson

Real-World Data Published in Clinical Cardiology Show Consistent Safety Performance of Once-Daily XARELTO® | Johnson & Johnson | World of electrophysiology | Scoop.it
A new post-marketing study evaluating the safety of once-daily XARELTO® (rivaroxaban) shows, in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF), rates and patterns of major bleeding in routine clinical practice are generally consistent with those observed in Phase 3 clinical trials used to approve the medicine for this indication. These fifteen-month results, published today in Clinical Cardiology, represent initial findings from an ongoing, five-year, observational study of patients using XARELTO® daily over the course of their lives.
Dr Oliver Segal's insight:
More reassurance on real world rivaroxaban safety from large phase IV study

Patients with standard cardiac devices can undergo non-thoracic MRI scans, registry finds

Patients with standard cardiac devices can undergo non-thoracic MRI scans, registry finds | World of electrophysiology | Scoop.it
Results of the MagnaSafe registry indicate that patients with standard pacemakers or implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs)—which are not magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) conditional—can undergo non-thoracic MRI scans at 1.5T, with no significant clinical risks, when the device is appropriately programmed.
Dr Oliver Segal's insight:

'MRI-non-conditional' devices ok in MRI scanners - but correct programming needed!
