How NASA Will Use 3D Printers in Space

How NASA Will Use 3D Printers in Space | World News | Scoop.it
Starting next fall, astronauts on the International Space Station won't have to wait months for replacement parts to be launched from Earth. Instead, they can use a newly arrived 3-D printer to fabricate the tools and materials they need.

Olivia G. Contillo's insight:

This is amazing! Imagine the possibilities if NASA where to supply 3D printers in space. They would be able to send documents back and forth and print out spare parts for ones that are broken or damaged. We could print out other objects like space food, oxygen tanks, etc. I believe that this would make an outstanding breakthrough.

Olivia G. Contillo's insight:

Im very interested in this topic because of the effect it may have on war. If this type of technology was available to the wrong people they would be able to launch a nuclear missle anywhere and no onw would be able to dectect it until it was too late. I also believe that that if the U.S government where to use this type of technology, what would they do with it? Would they use it to start war, or end it, or would they use it to send submarines and air-force fleets into Pakistan and Afghanistan To help our troops?
