"If I can get wifi at McDonalds, why shouldn't I be able to get it at school?"  Having come from the background as a public school IT professional, this is a deeeeeep question.  I think the appropriate response to it is to form a functional technology committee (one which meets and actually dialogs) so all parties can be informed about each others' needs and demands.

I also like that the ePortfolio can follow the student and allows each teacher to see prior work writing samples to get an authentic look at where the student is performing. It is a built in "needs assessment!"
