Some of the key challenges that employers face as a result of skills shortages are conveyed in this infographic. These figures are really interesting - 54% of employers have positions that they can't find qualified candidates for and the estimated cost to business  of having a post remain unfilled for three months is between $14,000 to $25,000. But clearly employers aren't prepared to take on employees that don't have the right skills. And which industries are being hit hardest? Well, it isn't just the more technical ones, although Architecture and Engineering are up there - management is also a field that strugles to find workers to fill positions.

Reflecting on the skills you are developing in your work experience and at uni is important if you want to be able to communicate to employers - in your resume and at interview - your technical and soft skills. This means being able to give examples that demonstrate them in action together!  So it is worth taking the time to reflect and write down examples in a diary or journal along the way - that way you aren't struggling to think of examples when you come to apply for your next job.
