Hillary Clinton's Unreliable Statements on Whistleblowing

Hillary Clinton's Unreliable Statements on Whistleblowing | Hillary Clinton Media | Scoop.it
Her remarks on Edward Snowden give Democrats a preview of the misinformation they can expect if they make her their standard-bearer.
Meagan Cuthill's insight:

Criticism from the media and others on Hillary this week has moved from her time at the State Department to the recent comments on she made on Snowden and applied to Manning.  While reading, Colbert's concept of truthiness came to mind.  Fact checking is valid, but people can have their gut instincts.  Obviously those don't always match up and truth is more gray then black and white at times.  Yet for the sake of this story, yes, Hillary stumbled.

Electoral College map 2016 projection: Hillary Clinton 294, GOP candidate 244

Electoral College map 2016 projection: Hillary Clinton 294, GOP candidate 244 | Hillary Clinton Media | Scoop.it

While the 2016 presidential election may be 975 days away, speculation is already mounting on who the candidates will be and which party will win. The following projection is for those political junkies amongst us who want a prediction of the 2016 Electoral College before one should reasonably be provided.

Meagan Cuthill's insight:

Wow!  Polls I understand but an electoral map is really early in the game.  The article acknowledges this in the lead quoted above.  These numbers lean to a Hillary win against, well, any probable candidate from the GOP.  The energy of the Republican party should be fueled even more with info like this now turning up.

Hillary Clinton Again Calls Benghazi 'Biggest Regret' as Secretary of ... | Hillary Clinton Media | Scoop.it
Hillary Clinton reiterated that her darkest time as secretary of state was the deadly 2012 attack in Benghazi, Libya.
Meagan Cuthill's insight:

Her biggest regret and the part of her time at the State Department that has come most under fire.  It makes sense that the two match.  Benghazi was, to put this in a very non academic way, a shit show.  Messy on all sides, it would have been difficult for anyone to handle or avoid.

Warren hopes Hillary Clinton will run in 2016 | Hillary Clinton Media | Scoop.it
Sen. Elizabeth Warren said Sunday she hopes Hillary Clinton will embark on a presidential run in 2016 – even as chatter about a White House bid heats up around the first-term Democratic senator from Massachusetts. “All of the women – Democratic women I should say of the Senate – urged Hillary Clinton to run,” Warren said...
Meagan Cuthill's insight:

A strong show of support from Warren.  Backing Hillary is not surprising from her as Warren isn't running.  The women in the Senate (at least the Democrats, which are most of the female senators), notably with their letter, will throw their endorsements and/or encouragement at Hillary, a fellow former female senator.

Hillary Clinton's Problem With the Media: Too Much Entertainment, Not Enough Facts

Hillary Clinton's Problem With the Media: Too Much Entertainment, Not Enough Facts | Hillary Clinton Media | Scoop.it
Hillary Clinton holds up UConn Huskies outfits given to her by university president Susan Herbst for Clinton's future grandchild at the University of Connecticut on April 23, 2014, in Storrs, Conn. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed her frustrations about the current state of media on Wednesday night, describing what she sees as an “entertainment-driven” approach to news that is “not good for the country and not good for journalism.” The potential 2016 frontrunner, 66, made her less-than-flattering comments during a Q&A session at her first-ever appearance at the University of Connecticut following her keynote address at the Edmund…
Meagan Cuthill's insight:

Cheers to this!  I agree that media, at least mainstream media, has become much too sensational.  Journalism should be more thought out and critical than it is instead of getting into drama.

State Department gets second chance to list Hillary Clinton accomplishments; it doesn't go well | WashingtonExaminer.com | Hillary Clinton Media | Scoop.it
On Tuesday, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki appeared flustered when she was asked a question concerning one of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's main legacies at Foggy Bottom. It was something called the Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review, known around the Department by the clunky acronym QDDR, and it was created by Secretary Clinton in 2010 to provide a sweeping assessment of how the Department of State … can become more efficient, accountable, and effective.
When Psaki announced that the 2014 edition of the QDDR is now underway, to build on the foundation established by the 2010 review, Associated Press reporter Matt Lee asked: Off the top of your head, can you identify one tangible achievement that the last QDDR resulted in?
Meagan Cuthill's insight:

The news cycle isn't letting this go.  Understandable but rough.  Ugh.

With Eyes on Possible Clinton Run, Questions on Room for Other Women

With Eyes on Possible Clinton Run, Questions on Room for Other Women | Hillary Clinton Media | Scoop.it
A nomination of Hillary Rodham Clinton for president would likely block the paths for other women running for the White House, and for those who would like to be vice president.
Meagan Cuthill's insight:

Yay women!  I did my Honors thesis in Politics about the female delegation of New Hampshire and this brings that and Hillary together.  Hillary running in the next election means all this female strength and open doors.  This article even addresses if there could be a double female ticket for President and VP.  While not likely, and diversity on a ticket is usually necessary though they use the previous other Clinton win (Bill and Gore) to say similarity can work, the main point is that this is even being discussed as a possibility.  Great article, and really cool relating to a lot of my undergrad research.

High pressure on Hillary Clinton as 2016 nears

High pressure on Hillary Clinton as 2016 nears | Hillary Clinton Media | Scoop.it
The truth is that Hillary Clinton's ability to decide on 2016 is being handed around to all of those whose hopes are pinned firmly to her and to her alone.
Meagan Cuthill's insight:

2016 "nearing" is definitely political time.  If you were to ask anyone off the street how far in the future 2016 is for them personally, my guess is most would think of it as a long way off.  But with April coming to a close, candidates usually announce about a year and a half before the general for campaigning, at least.  So, a year and a half from November 2016 is May 2015.  While a year away, that's considered late in political time for presidential races.  Mainly this pressure has to do with what she's going to do with her time before she provides a flat answer.

Political ramifications to Chelsea Clinton's pregnancy? Oh come on. | Hillary Clinton Media | Scoop.it
So, what are the political ramifications of Hillary Clinton ’s impending grandmotherhood?
Meagan Cuthill's insight:

The biggest news this week involving a Clinton was not Hillary, but Chelsea.  Bill and Hill are going to be grandparents as Chelsea is pregnant.  This impending baby should focus on Chelsea and her husband, yet some the reaction to the news is being put on Hillary.  How will this baby affect her politics?  As this LA Times writer insists, "oh come on".  The comparison to Palin's family situation in 2008 is very telling of family drama, not Chelsea Clinton, who is in her 30s and married, having a child.

Wall Street Republicans for Hillary Clinton 2016, if it comes to that

Wall Street Republicans for Hillary Clinton 2016, if it comes to that | Hillary Clinton Media | Scoop.it
NEW YORK — The biggest parlor game on Wall Street and in corporate boardrooms these days is guessing whether former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush will run for president and save the GOP’s old establishment base from its rising populist wing. The second most popular game is guessing what happens if Jeb says no. Two dozen interviews about the 2016...
Meagan Cuthill's insight:

This is a case when Hillary being a former NY senator really comes into play.  Wall Street has a lot of sway in the nation so representing the state of New York in the higher federal house means Hillary has some allies.  As the article points out, if Jeb Bush doesn't pan out, Hillary could get Wall Street right leaners' support.  She's a viable option for them, at least as an alternative to Bush or Paul (who is getting more presidential wondering I believe than Bush).

Louisville (CNN) - It would be difficult for Hillary Clinton to find a more welcoming crowd than the women at Saturday's United Methodist Women Assembly in Louisville.
Meagan Cuthill's insight:

Hillary is very smart when it comes to her religion, and exceeds in the political etiquette of it.  In politics, in my opinion, religion should stay personal and relevant, but not public (meaning regarding government involvement) for almost all circumstances.  Separation between church and state, but not personal expression.  Good balance.

Why You Can't Compare Hillary Clinton's Age to Ronald Reagan's
National Journal
The age comparisons between Hillary Clinton and Ronald Reagan seem as natural as they are nonsensical.
Meagan Cuthill's insight:

Life expectancy is important when considering presidential candidates.  Whoever is elected will have one of the most stressful and aging positions in the world.  This question came up in 2008 with McCain and it has been mentioned with Biden if he were to take a chance on moving up.  I also hadn't thought of the Reagan and Hillary age comparison.  Hillary is in her sixties but she has such an energy to her.

Media hammered by ‘Daily Show’ on Hillary Clinton grandma double standard, way to go Stewart | Hillary Clinton Media | Scoop.it
Why ask about grandmothership vis-a-vis 2016 race? Well, why not?
Meagan Cuthill's insight:

Similar to the LA Times article scooped, Jon Stewart amazingly recognizes how news media is entirely creating a "grandmother factor" for Hillary Clinton.  A very nice point by Stewart pointing out how Romney has a "litter" of grandchildren and that was not a "factor" in 2012.  In fact, Romney probably got minimal heat and instead whenever the fact that he's a grandfather came up most likely was hailed as a family man.  Sexism indeed.  While Fallon hit on Hillary for her gender in a joking way, Stewart is adequately defending her.

While I didn't watch the video I may include it on tomorrow's YouTube playlist entry. I'm a fan of Jimmy Fallon. It just sounds like he hit an old topic that, I agree, is both lame and not funny.
