Ray Bradbury (August 22, 1920 – June 5, 2012) : The Man Who Knew Too Much

Ray Bradbury (August 22, 1920 – June 5, 2012) : The Man Who Knew Too Much | The One - Le Baron Noir Entertainment Daily News | Scoop.it

Ray Bradbury imagined the future, and didn't always like what he saw.
In his books, the science fiction-fantasy master conjured a dark, depressing future where the government used fire departments to burn books in order to hold its people in ignorance and where racial hatred was so pervasive that some people left Earth for other planets.
At the same time, his work, just like the author himself, could also be joyful, whimsical and nostalgic, as when he was describing the magic of a Midwestern summer or the innocence and fearlessness of a boy who befriends a houseful of ghosts.
Bradbury, who died Tuesday at age 91, said often that all of his stories, no matter how fantastic or frightening they might be, were metaphors for everyday life and everything it entailed. And they all came from his childhood.

A Paris exhibition puts Hugo Cesto's works in international spotlight.
Ballet dancer, singer, songs writer/composer, fashion designer, he signed his enigmatic drip painting street art on the Orleans and Paris sidewalks and abandoned factories under the name of "Monkey" Street Art.
If he is oftently compared to Jean-Michel Basquiat due to his prolific art work, the 20 y.o man establishes his own style.
When we ask him who are his favourite artists he says that his admiration goes to Didier Chamizo, Franz Kline and Cai Guo Quiang..
Actually, from the 2nd till the 30th of june 2012, "Bebek I'm the Wreck", his first painting exhibition takes place at the parisian boutique-Art Gallery Kokon To Zai.
Among elite's clothes and trendy accessories, Hugo Cesto's message is obvious : later on, he will design his own fashion brand, and keep on expressing his various talents, following his sole inspiration.. and desire.

Ridley Scott's brilliant first film

Ridley Scott's brilliant first film | The One - Le Baron Noir Entertainment Daily News | Scoop.it

In retrospect, “The Duellists” is one of the most impressive directorial débuts in British movie history. It’s as if having a central, magnetizing idea liberated Scott’s imagination. In “The Duellists,” he works originally, on inspiration, as if he doesn’t owe anything to anybody. He really seems scot-free.

BANKSY CELEBRATES ZS40 WITH A LIZ INSANE

"One's painting one's face..."

If you're in the UK you can't have failed to notice news coverage of genius street artist Banksy's ( http://www.banksy.co.uk/ ) latest creation.

The enigmatic Bristolian chose his home town as the venue for this latest artwork, where the image of the Queen of England sporting the Aladdin Sane flash proudly looks down from a first-floor vantage point.

The controversial artist chose to include Liz in the nationwide celebration of Ziggy's 40th by Ziggy-fying her in the manner we suggested on this page just over a week ago. ZIGGY-FY YOURSELF, YOUR FRIEND, PET OR FAMILY MEMBER...

Though the artwork has yet to be confirmed by Banksy, nobody wants to hear that it may have been done by an impostor. So we think Banksy should claim it as his own either way.

EMI release ZS40 worldwide on June 4th and in North America on June 5th. Stay tuned for related contests and some Heddon Street fun on the actual anniversary of the original June 6th, 1972, release.

The World is Stone

The World is Stone | The One - Le Baron Noir Entertainment Daily News | Scoop.it

Grammy award winner Joss Stone's 'Stone'd Records' label has joined forces with the label that first signed her, S- Curve Records, for the long-awaited follow up to Stone's massive 5 million selling debut 2003 album "The Soul Sessions".

Entitled "The Soul Sessions Volume 2", the album will be released on July 31st and will be a joint release between Joss Stone's Stone'd Records label and S-Curve Records.

The eleven covers on 'The Soul Sessions Volume 2' include deep cuts such as "(For God's Sake) Give More Power To The People" (originally recorded by the Chi-Lites), "The Love We Had" (The Dells), "Pillow Talk" (Sylvia), "While You're Out Looking for Sugar" (The Honey Cone), first US single "The High Road" - a stone-cold soul makeover of the Broken Bells' cult hit – and many more.

Stone reunited with S-Curve's Steve Greenberg earlier this year for a series of electrifying sessions in Nashville, with a stellar cast of musicians including Ernie Isley, Delbert McClinton, original Muscle Shoals Swamper Clayton Ivey, and others.

The resulting album showcases a young woman at the height of her vocal powers.

Ten years on from the original album, which was recorded by Stone at the tender age of 15, there is undoubtedly a new level of maturity in evidence on this set - a stunning exercise in vocal poise, passion and power.

"I really had fun revisiting 'The Soul Sessions' idea and I'm really pleased with the results," Joss says. "I've committed long term to my label Stone'd Records, but it felt right to team up with Steve Greenberg and S-Curve again for this release. I think there are some great songs on the album and I loved performing them with such brilliant musicians."

Official album art, tracklist and worldwide tour dates will be revealed soon.

Other release dates include: UK July 23rd, rest of world to be announced shortly.

There are several words to describe what we won't consider as art ...

If culture is commonly defined as what is left when we have forgotten everything ; could we imagine that in several decades from now sociologist and art-scientist would call our billions of home made fantasies an artistic expression or just.. demonstrate that, in 2012, society can't stand being entertained by snob anymore ?
