Wisconsin Dells is Stupendous for Spring Break
Not only is Wisconsin Dells the official world’s waterpark capital, it’s also the unofficial spring break capital of the Midwest. What is that ranking based on you ask? Sheer popularity! Parents with children from high school age on down find the Dells to be exceedingly family friendly and a good value, thanks to the nice variety of Wisconsin Dells hotels and motels in the area, to say nothing of the indoor waterparks that mimic southern climes (without all the college kids that is). Check the school calendar for spring break timing in your area, then check this list of all the things to do in the Dells.

Just for Kids in the Dells
We get asked all the time which Wisconsin Dells attractions and restaurants are especially suited for kids 10 and under, so we thought we’d take this opportunity, prior to Spring Break, to toss out some suggestions. For classic Dells attractions, you can’t beat the Tommy Bartlett Exploratory – Interactive Science Center with enough gadgets and doodads to keep the kids occupied for hours. For budding artists, there’s Paint It! Pottery Shop. Bet you didn’t know there’s a kids’ spa at Great Wolf Lodge – it’s called Scooops (yes, it’s three o’s, no misspelling there) where the manicures and pedicures are ice cream-themed. For dining, try Buffalo Phil’s Pizza & Grille, where the food is delivered to your table by miniature train. For dessert, Goody Goody Gum Drop is as sweet as it gets. There are Wisconsin Dells water parks geared to the younger set as well.
For Kids 10 and Under

Dells for Grown-Ups
Vacation Without the Kids
We provided ideas for families traveling with little ones so, in the spirit of fairness, how about some ideas for visitors vacationing in the Dells without kids? The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel did a bang-up job offering suggestions for couples and groups of friends looking for a grown-up getaway. We also took to Facebook to find out what our fans considered their favorite Wisconsin Dells’ experience when it was just grown-ups in the group. It’s a great mix of dining, spas, shopping, golf, scenery, nightlife, gaming and, oh yes, waterparks!

Celebration Vacations
Take the Celebration on the Road
It started with family reunions, then destination weddings, and has simply taken off from there. We’re talking about celebration vacations in Wisconsin Dells. Last year we asked visitors to share their stories of celebrating life’s milestones in the Dells, and their e-mails had us alternating between laughter and tears, each one more heartwarming than the next. Care to share your Wisconsin Dells celebration vacation story? Add your post to our web site. And if you’re in the early planning stages of a celebration getaway, say for a birthday or anniversary or significant family reunion, then let the Wisconsin Dells visitor bureau group travel team be your guide to a Wisconsin Dells getaway you won’t soon forget.

Get Out of the Dog House
Wisconsin Dells Without the Kids
If you’re worried your Valentine’s Day gift may fall short (what, you haven’t even purchased it yet?!), then allow us to save the day by playing Cupid. Here’s the drill: Book a getaway for two to a Wisconsin Dells resort. Make arrangements for a pretty floral delivery from an area florist. Reserve an indulgent spa service – there are five spas to choose from – with Sundara Inn & Spa or Spa Serenity both offering spa together treatment rooms with side-by-side massage tables. Make a point to stop in a specialty jewelry boutique to let her pick out a pretty bauble. Then select your favorite flavor of chocolates at your favorite sweet shop. Whether it’s getaway during Valentine’s week, or maybe later in February, it’s the thought that counts.

Indoor Ropes Course Opens at the Wilderness Resort
Indoor Amusement Parks to Keep You Jumpin’
Here’s late breaking news: A new adventure ropes course located inside the Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort just opened. It’s called the Northern Lights Sky Ropes Course and it’s perched 30 feet above the mega arcade in the Wild West region of the property. Wearing a full-body safety harness, you’ll climb your way around 42 challenges with varying degrees of difficulty. Sounds like a test of both balance and bravery if you ask us.

What Will Your Dells Getaway Include This Year?
We cannot tell a lie, we are giddy over the 2012 Wisconsin Dells Vacation Guide magazine. It’s 144 pages of goodness, and by goodness we mean vacation ideas, waterpark tips, heartwarming stories of love and marriage (we’re not kidding), fashion finds and handy charts and maps. To get your very own copy, just place your online order today or call our Visitor Information Center at 800-22-DELLS (33557).

Dells Spring Break Rated "G" for Good Family Fun

Dells Spring Break Rated "G" for Good Family Fun | Wisconsin Dells News | Scoop.it

While college kids try to snag a few extra bucks from mom and pop to fund their spring break vacation, littler kids might actually have it easier, with parents happily making all the arrangements for a spring break vacation getaway to Wisconsin Dells. We’re famous for having water parks of all varieties, making us a family spring break frontrunner. For a fun look at how the Dells matches up with the college version, activity by activity, read on.

Bask
Wisconsin Dells indoor water park hotels keep the thermostat set in the balmy 80 degree-range, with the threat of inclement weather.

Tan
When the sun is out, the high-tech roof over the Wild Waterdome at the Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort allows families to tan year-round. So slather on the sunscreen before you hit the wave pool.

Surf
Try the FlowRider® indoor surf machine at the Kalahari Waterpark Resort Convention Center. Water shoots upward at 50,000 gallons per minute to create a five-foot wave, giving it a feel of the real deal.

Hang Out at a Cabana
The Dells’ largest indoor water parks have private cabanas for rental and they come loaded with amenities for families, like air conditioning, Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and cabana staff at your beck and call.

Compete
Race against family and friends on the Mountain Edge Raceway racing slides at Great Wolf Lodge, the nation's first indoor competitive mat racer waterslides, where you’ll launch headfirst down the four-story slide. Older kids will surely want to try one of the enclosed dark tunnels. The Matador Mat Racers at Chula Vista Resort’s indoor waterpark are a blast for families too.

Pose
Get that old-timey feeling going with a family portrait at Old Abe’s Old Time Portraits in Downtown Dells.

Eat Whatever You Want
Load up on sweets at Goody Goody Gum Drop or Swiss Maid Fudge or Wisconsin Dairyland Fudge. Heck, buy something at all three. And no Wisconsin Dells spring break vacation is complete without some cheese from Market Square Cheese.

Shop
Pick out a new swimsuit at Splish Splash Surf & Skate Shop. Moccasins all around at Bailey’s Landing. For souvenirs, it’s Aunt Jenny’s Got-It-All Store.

Be Entertained
Master illusionists Rick and Suzan Wilcox wow family crowds with their mix of magic and comedy, as good as anything you’ll see in Vegas, at their Rick Wilcox Magic Theater. The Dells 4D Special FX Theater is another family-friendly option, with blockbusters themed to dinosaurs, pirates and fairies.

Golf
We’re talking 18 holes of mini-golf indoors at the Kalahari Indoor Theme Park. You’ll also find 24 lanes of bowling, an elevated go-cart track, ropes course, climbing walls, laser tag and arcade games here. There’s go-carting aplenty at the Parthenon Indoor Theme Park at Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Parks and Knuckleheads Bowling & Amusement Park as well.

Snag a Package Deal
Wisconsin Dells hotels all around love the spring break vacation craze, so ask about special overnight packages when you call for reservations.
