Gli Eremi 2012, La Distesa, Cupramontana, Le Marche

Gli Eremi 2012, La Distesa, Cupramontana, Le Marche | Wines and People | Scoop.it

Gli Eremi is Verdicchio in purity from a single vineyard of older vines exposed full south in the heart of the San Michele cru. The area once a sea and Corrado believes the shimmering minerality and saltiness you find in wines from here can be attributed to this. The wine spends a total of 18 months on it’s lees and during this time the wine gains wonderful texture and complexity, which become increasingly endearing with age.

Verdicchio: the wine identity of Le Marche

Verdicchio: the wine identity of Le Marche | Wines and People | Scoop.it

When we use to talk about Ancona and its Province, it comes immediately up to our mind identifying with them one of the most famous products: the “Verdicchio”. It is a vine exclusively cultivated in Marche Region, with white berry and suitable for the production of fresh wines with a remarkable longevity; it can be used also for as classic as Charmat method sparkling white wines. The name Verdicchio comes for sure from its greenish coloured grape, also after its maturation. It seems that its origins go even back to the XVI century. The Verdicchio had a great characterization thanks to the architect Maiocchi. In fact, over ’50 years period the architect drew an amphor shaped bottle in order to enhance the wine quality and the sinuosity of Marche Region landscape morphology. The colour of Verdicchio is straw-yellow, and, accordingly to its maturation, it can vary on shades that go from greenish to golden. The alcoholic gradation goes from 11.5° to 12.5°C. It is important to store it at about 10°/12° C; when you serve it as aperitif, please keep the bottle at 8°/10° C...

Le Marche Wine Excellence: Marotti Campi Morro d'Alba

Le Marche Wine Excellence: Marotti Campi Morro d'Alba | Wines and People | Scoop.it

Morro D’Alba is a medieval village situated between the towns of Jesi and Senigallia. Here, on gently rolling hills framed by both the Appenine Mountains and the Adriatic sea, lies Sant’Amico, a settlement which dates back to Roman Times.
The winery Marotti Campi was built in 1999 and is represented by Giovanni and Francesca with their son Lorenzo and they are proud to vinify exclusively their grapes. The capacity is 6000 and they use pneumatic press where the hand-picked grapes are softly crushed. For the white wines they use reductive techniques to preserve the vibrant, fresh varietal grape character, we use dry ice during the harvest and azote in the winery to lower the grapes temperature and lessen the oxidation of the flavours. Marotti Campi stores the bottles in a temperature controlled environment at 10-18°C providing optimal ageing conditions. In 2010 we have installed solar panels achieving energy self-sufficiency
The estate totals 120 hectares, of which 52 are vineyards that lie on hillsides at approximately 180 meters above the sea level. The soil is mixed predominantly clay...
