TechCrunch | Never Take Your Eyes Off This Hacker Metric

TechCrunch | Never Take Your Eyes Off This Hacker Metric | Curated Startup Resources | Scoop.it

If you're interested in engineering your way to user growth AND engagement I highly recommend this article.

It explains how total user base and growth hacking is not the (only) key to success of platforms like Facebook. Never loose sight of engagement. Creating a company with both high engagement and high growth requires a sound distribution engine fueled by active users.

Dev Bootcamp - Learn Ruby on Rails in 10 weeks

I recently came across Dev Bootcamp. It's a really cool initiative set up by Shereef Bishay.

Dev Bootcamp in my opinion is the right way to go about learning how to code. You just got to go and do it! Jump in, head first! I've been mucking around with Codecademy and Team Treehouse, which give you some basics, but it will never go the distance like Dev Bootcamp does. This is code 101 on steroids!

At Sandbox we also interviewed two developers of their first batch of graduates. It was impressive to see the skills they had developed in less that 3 months. Furthermore, Techcrunch featured an article uncovering that 88% of bootcamp grads got offers at an average of $79K. Not a bad ROI considering it only takes 10 weeks and ~$10K tuition (which I believe you can largely recover if you get placed through the program).

For those who are interested, also check out Code Academy in Chicago, which is a similar bootcamp program for code newbies.

Hope to join Dev Bootcamp when I have 10 weeks open in my calendar!
