As MOOCs continue to develop, we must identify challenges learners face as MOOC participants, specifically for learners accustomed to the face-to-face classroom—many of them disengage in MOOCs as the course progresses because online education has shifted the learner’s role into unfamiliar territory: online students are now more accountable for their own learning, time management, and motivation to complete coursework.

Blended Learning in English Language Teaching: Course Design and Implementation

Blended learning is an area of ELT that continues to be of interest to practitioners in the field. Despite this, little can be found in the literature on blended learning course design or detailed descriptions provided of blends used in ELT contexts. This publication, which contains twenty case studies from around the world, addresses this deficit by illustrating blends being employed on EAP, ESP, Teacher Development and general EFL courses.

In my SMART Board courses, I find that teachers feel as though they are obligated to create lessons on a grandiose scale.  This article focuses on simple things that a SMART Board can be used for that  may often be overlooked in the process of creating big, flashy lessons.
