PBS - THE WEST - Indian Removal

This doesn't automatically appear to be a primary source but it is. It's the written part of former President Andrew Jackson's seventh annual message to the Congress. In the message, Jackson states that "engagements" have been made for the removal of the rest of the tribes. Note how he doesn't use the word the tribes agreed to being removed. Jackson also mentions the rest for the Indian Removal which is because the United States favored the land the Indians owned and wanted the resources all to themselves.

The Indian Removal Act of 1830

This is the official Indian Removal Act. It states what the President should be allowed to do and what the results should be of his actions. In the Act it states that the President should reassure the tribes of their health and safety however the President did not make note of the tribes welfare. Also in the 5th section of the Act it states that the President is supposed to supply the tribes with materials to aid them for the first year of their removal.

The stick that the white man is beating the Indian is the idea of war. This is showing that if the Indian was not to agree to the white man's request he was to expect war to destroy his tribe.

This is the letter former President Andrew Jackson wrote to Congress addressing the current status of the Indian removal. It states that the main tribes have agreed to the removal and that he's hoping that because of the main tribes compliance would influence the other tribes.
