Petition: Amend PIP rules so that mentally disabled adults can get a Blue parking Badge | Welfare, Disability, Politics and People's Right's | Scoop.it
Currently rules on personal independence payments mean that mobility points, which allow people to access a Blue Badge for disabled parking, are allocated on a physical capacity to walk only not mental impairment.
This is demonstrably unrealistic & impacts both people with disabilities and carers.

'This should not happen': Death of homeless man yards from House of Commons prompts outcry | Welfare, Disability, Politics and People's Right's | Scoop.it
Most people walking through Westminster tube station on Wednesday will have noticed nothing out of the ordinary. Tourists sauntered through as commuters rushed by. Few will have questioned that a homeless man wasn’t sitting in his usual place inside Exit 3. But the unidentified man’s body had been found at that spot just hours before. Outreach services attempted to give him CPR until paramedics and police arrived. Shortly after 7am, he was pronounced dead.

Report calls for nationwide changes to the way care placements are managed
britishroses's insight:
Why are criminal charges not brought against these criminals because that is exactly what they are and they should be treated as such. People working with vulnerable people should not just be highly trained with stringent background checks, they such be then be treated as the professionals they should be and paid accordingly. Giving any Joe blow a job taking care of our most vulnerable whether autistic or elderly will result in this kind of neglect. It's time we as a society took this seriously and acted accordingly this is inexcusable and has gone on for one to many years!
