Frankly, I've never been one who could look at a font and tell you its name, variant and weight. I envy those who can.

Here is a collection on tools that should be helpful identifing any font. This post also gives you insight into developing a font palette as well. This is super helpful when developing a branding solution or a website, then having to write your usage/spec guidline.

Copyright law is a tangle. Even copyright attorneys agree that copyright infringement is not only difficult to prove, but it's rarely worth pursuing in the legal system [for a number or reasons].

I'm speaking from experience.

However, having the knowledge this post provides regarding what & what not to do can save you a lot of trouble.

We really dig the visuals provided by Joe Todd Stanton. This is a common sense piece on regular business interactions. If you're B2B, it makes sense to brush up on these once in a while and make sure you're not taking shortcuts or skippng any of these keys to success.  One thing we would like to see added to this list is an additional, automated customer survey and referral portion - reducing that awkward groveling for a referral, and also allowing honest customer feedback, which dictates whether to offer an apology and promise to do better next time, or to simply ask for a brief positive statement right then and there, along with a referral, if the survey results are terrific (which they should be if you're doing the job right!).

Using the Golden Ratio for spot-on composition

Louisette Pink's curator insight, January 9, 2013 5:00 AM

The Golden Ratio, [aka the Fibonacci Sequence] is a composition theory that, when used properly, will create a more natural aesthetic to your design. When I use the principle, I often get the feedback that goes something like this, "I love the design, but I can't put my finger on exactly WHY I like it so much."
