I had a problem where the ATC Oak Normal font was not in my CS6 character listing so I had to use a different font. As I worked through the project I got to the make the leaf out of the dot in the "i" part and discovered that my dot was a square when zoomed in to 3200x. In order to solve the problem I had to ungroup the text and then ungroup the “i” so the dot (square) could be manipulated.  Once I had the dot (square) selected I added an anchor point to the middle of each flat side of the square.  From there I could drag the square into a leave shape.

The narrator of the video moves very fast through the tutorial but it really gives you some good insight into how to manipulate text to create logos.
