The Spanish-American War was a militarily easy conquest by the United States to eliminate the last vestiges of the Spanish colonial empire. It was a four month conflict during the 1800's.The occasion for that explosion of imperialism lay neither in the Pacific nor in the quest for bases and trade, but to the south in Cuba.It revived only briefly during a 10-year Cuban insurrection from 1868 to 1878. In 1895 inssurrection broke out again.

2 Paragraphs

First, Many things happened that caused the Spanish-American War there where so many issues between United States and Spain. In the year of 1898 the war happened a little because Cuban’s where in revolt against Spain and wanted to declare Independence. Other things where going on at that time also, like reporters where sent to Cuba and there the reporters often transformed into horror stories about crimes against the Cuban population. Also, Imperialists in America favored the war, which would bring Cuba and its people into the “ Economic” sphere of the United States. On the other hand we as American thought we could provide products to the Cubans and we could enter the economic system of the island with our industries. This conflict was a short but sorta long period of time. Finally, one major cause was the explosion of the USS Maine although it was in Havana.  In Conclusion, people claimed the Spanish caused the explosion but there was no evidence to prove the Spanish cause the explosion. (260 American sailors died). Although, there where big issues between Spain, Cuba and America. In opinion I don’t think it was needed for war.

Secoundly, the Spanish American war had a big affect in our history, as you can see America won. The Treaty of Paris signed December 10th 1898 arranged peace. Afterwards, an outcome of the war is America won. Even though, the United States claimed Cuba as a territory. Eventually Untied States granted Cuba Independence by the terms of the Platt Amendment. There fore Cuban’s didn’t want to trade one countries colonel control over them then for them to be another Spain. After all United States also took control of Puerto Rico, the Philippines and Guam. Lastly, Cuba was once declared a U.S protectorate and the U.S stationed ships and troops.People believe that the Spanish American War was a American dominance over an "Old World Power." In my opinion i think the bigest main problem that happened within this war was the U.S.S Maine. I believe we got involved only because we felt that the spanish where trying to destroy us.After all at least it ended without continuous conflict and or drama.
