Eugene Love's insight:

the article and video show a very direct way that google glass can be used to visualize a field trip for a classroom. I added it because its much less of a future option and much more of a current day technology option.

Or stay at school and watch a video......

(Far less forms to fill in)

Jacob Rabe's curator insight, May 7, 2013 3:46 PM

This seems a bit pointless. You could go and just watch a documentary about the place and it would be the same thing as having your teacher go to this place and talk about it. It is pretty sweet looking though.

Henry Hartzler's comment, May 10, 2013 10:22 AM
I agree, it seems like cool technology, but you miss out on actually experiencing the place yourself! This would be like watching a virtual tour of DC instead of taking the trip there, it would get dull very fast.

I've seen some examples of an entire room being transformed into what almost looks like a holodeck. I believe it was PlayStation technology.

Augmented Reality is identified in the Horizon 2011 as having huge potentional for e-Learning over the next 5 years.   This video will help you see the possibilities!

When our virtual classrooms include augmented reality we'll all be able to learn together on the holodeck any where any time.

Eugene Love's insight:

Need kids to pay attention in class? How about letting a T-Rex loose in the room?! The article/promotional video demonstrates the concept of "Augmented Reality" in action. I selected this artical because it further demonstrates the future possibility of integrating education with experiential learning.  This could very well be a science textbook option of the future.

Eugene Love's insight:

An interesting viewpoint on changing students perspective on VR.  Moving it from a gaming accessory to a teaching tool.
