Visual Cues In Level Design
Gamasutra (blog)
As a designer it's an absolute principle to rigorously strive to compose smooth and seamless - uniform interactions for users.
Renee Phoenix's insight:

Takes too long to level up, users move on to something else they can understand quickly and efficiently. Game designers follow rigorous principles of visual and environment design to create engaging game worlds that are fun to play in. This article on the Gamasutra.com blog outlines some of these principles and shows how they were applied in sample game environments. I can't help but see connections and ideas I can apply to instructional design for learning environments or online courses.
