Peter Mellow's insight:
I've found this to be a good low cost alternative if you are creating white/black/green/clear board assets. Even better if you get it on the lifetime licence special they run from time to time (last one was one off cost of $97 for life, better than paying the subscription model). But in saying that, if you need one of these animations, get a licence for a month or two, produce your video assets and then let the subscription lapse.

Arc - A better video platform ???
Peter Mellow's insight:
Am I missing something? Apart from a cutesy user interface, this appears to me to be a Q&A discussion forum over/around a video. I do like the in timeline comments (nod to Perusall!) but from the video on their website, it does not seem to me to be as 'interactive video' as Coursera/Hapyak or even H5P define it.

Perhaps there are features that they are not showing us, but there is not much info on the website. When I want to know about integration with Moodle, or prices I get shoved to a sales form? Might be good for school, but as it looks to me, a little lightweight for highered in its current state. The Emperor's New Clothes?

Gen Zers Look to Teachers First, YouTube Second for Instruction

Students in Generation Z would rather learn from YouTube videos than from nearly any other form of instruction. YouTube was designated as the preferred mode of learning by 59 percent of Gen Zers in a survey on the topic, compared to in-person group activities with classmates (mentioned by 57 percent), learning applications or games (47 percent) and printed books (also 47 percent). The only method of instruction that beat out YouTube? Teachers.

Video Captioning on the Rise for Both Social Access and Compliance

Captioning in video, while still not the norm, is on the rise. While just 34 percent of respondents to a 2017 survey on the topic said they caption all of their videos, that grew to 36 percent in 2018 — even as the share of organizations that are publishing more than 500 hours of video content annually is growing (up from 17 percent last year to 29 percent this year). These responses surfaced during a survey on the "State of Captioning," produced by 3PlayMedia.
