What is Apple Clips? Plus we teach you how to use it | Social Video Success Strategies | Scoop.it
Update: Apple has updated its Clips app, bringing along a suite of new digital assets from the company itself to make your videos and photos a little more lively. New overlays, backgrounds and animated text are just a few of the new features available in the update.

Additionally, entertainment giant Disney has chipped in some content and the implementation seems fun. You'll basically be able to overlay your favorite Disney characters on your photos and even better, you can insert an animated character into your videos.

It's Time to Take the Brand Out of Branded Content

It's Time to Take the Brand Out of Branded Content | Social Video Success Strategies | Scoop.it

Quality storytelling and narrative matter more than ever, and must be first and foremost in your mind when approaching “branded” content. The quotes are intentional. It is an opportune time to drop the word “branded” from that phrase and from your vocabulary.

Content is content. Good content is good content. If a story is moving, no one is going to care that it’s brought to you by a brand. Rather, they’re going to be happy the brand brought it to them. And by the same token, content that is annoying is now amplified rather than ignored (because no one can resist a good call-out) and can be more harmful to a brand than ever....

"More and more we communicate through video. And I’ll bet you know the feeling when you record that very effective screencast or tutorial, and it just doesn’t feel ready for primetime.

Post-production is what makes your media feel professional and done. But not everyone has access to, or the chops to use, a robust video editor like Final Cut Pro or Adobe After Effects. And not everyone wants to spend the arduous time it sometimes takes to make a video product feel professionally spiffy.

Content Creation and Curation: Get the Right Blend

Content Creation and Curation: Get the Right Blend | Social Video Success Strategies | Scoop.it

Content creation and content curation both serve very different purposes. The former is self-promoting, while the latter is cross-promoting. Don’t limit yourself to just one, or you’ll miss out on valuable opportunities from the other.

To clarify, ‘created’ content is original – solely produced and owned by you. Every piece of content you create represents your company’s unique expertise, products, services, insights, and opinions. ‘Curated’ content is generated from external sources outside of your company that you share with your audience. It should be relevant and useful to your target audience and demonstrate that you recognise the value that other companies bring to your industry, or areas of relevant interest.

Attainting the optimum balance between generating both created and curated content campaigns will depend on what you’re hoping to achieve – be it greater brand awareness, higher search rankings, optimal social engagement, or more conversions. Knowing the differences and usefulness of each type of content will help you make the right decision when developing your next content strategy – so here’s what you can achieve with each approach....

Think you need a professional production team to create a worthwhile explainer video? Think again. Compiling an explainer video doesn't have to be more complicated than putting together a slide deck in a Powerpoint presentation. Dr. Karen Dietz's curator insight, February 22, 11:31 AM

In all my years of curating, I've looked at tons of articles promoting storytelling on social media. The problem? The posts are not really about storytelling. They are about photo sharing, 140-character opinions, posting links, and anything else you can think of. There's been mention of your collective tweets/posts/photos adding up to "your story" -- but that's a vague notion at best. None of this is really helpful.

Finally Alfred Lua from Buffer has written an intelligent piece that really does talk about storytelling -- yes, real stories -- and how to do it on different social media platforms. Yay!

Go grab these ideas and start having a field day sharing your stories.
