With this, Novo Nordisk CEO Lars Sorensen intends to promote Victoza as a drug under the weight-loss group of medication. This move resulted from the disapproval of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Novo’s new diabetes drug, Tresiba, without a new safety study.

FDA Approves Victoza's Weight Loss Indication Label

Victoza has gained some affirmative results on the weight-loss indication aspect, as published in Fierce Pharma last May 2013. A recent weight-loss-specific trial advertised by its manufacturer Novo Nordisk revealed that patients using a three milligrams dose of Victoza dropped six percent of their body weight, compared to only two percent of placebo patients.
