Juice review: Urban Cloudz concentrates, part 1

Juice review: Urban Cloudz concentrates, part 1 | Vaping | Scoop.it
It's been a while since I've posted now... again. Sorry about that. Things have been pretty busy at work and in my life in general. Feels like whenever I find something interesting to write about I never have the time to do it before it's all old news. Hopefully I'll get some more time to write soon. Luckily I have some good friends though, that keeps sending me stuff for reviews for which I can do all the research and testing on the move :) So it's time for another concentrate review, this time from Urban Cloudz which is a UK company based in Bristol according to their website. I've got 5 of these concentrates, and I'll start with three of them today.

Juice Review: Mount Baker Vapor flavour concentrates, Part 3 | Vaping | Scoop.it
I've been smelling the five juices that I'm going to review in this last part of my Mount Baker concentrates review series for weeks now while they've been steeping in a dark and mysterious place. Some of them smell just fantastic so I suspect I'm going to have a hard time picking any favourites this time as well.

It's time for the second of my Mount Baker Vapor concentrates reviews. The last weeks I've been vaping on five new juices mixed up from the concentrates that nosmoke.no sent me, curious to find out if any of them could beat my favourite from part 1, Thug Juice.

Juice Review: Mount Baker Vapor flavour concentrates, Part 1

Juice Review: Mount Baker Vapor flavour concentrates, Part 1 | Vaping | Scoop.it
I have to admit that mixing my own e-juice haven't been a big part of my everyday vaping life. I mean I have mixed some concentrates with nic and pg/vg a few times, mostly cause I've gotten good deals on some of my favourite juices in concentrate form but usually I get my juice steeped and ready to vape. So far, my attempts to mix my own flavours have ended up tasting... well to be honest, soap would be the most describing word.

A lot of other people, with more time on their hands than I've had lately, are mixing their own flavours, sharing recipes and having a lot of fun with this. Others again, buy concentrates of more or less known juices and mix and steep themselves to save money, cause it is quite a bit cheaper than buying finished juice. Mixing your own juice from concentrates is also a good way to start if you want to get into mixing your own flavours.

The Norwegian Institute of Public Health censored their own top researchers

The Norwegian Institute of Public Health censored their own top researchers | Vaping | Scoop.it
Last week I wrote that the TPD and plain packaging passed in the Norwegian parliament. The Norwegian Institute of Public Health, NIPH, played an important role in this, not only through their response to the public consultation prior to the vote, but also through their reports on e-cigarettes (which I've written about before) and their statements during a committee hearing in October this year. Now, some of NIPH's own researchers reveals that important information was held back during this committee hearing, and hence the members of parliament, that voted in favour of the new tobacco act, had inadequate information. Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet has gained access to emails showing this and they've talked to Erik Nord and Karl Erik Lund about it. This was published in an article last week (sadly behind a paywall).

Review: Wotofo Serpent Mini 25mm RTA

Review: Wotofo Serpent Mini 25mm RTA | Vaping | Scoop.it
Last summer when I went to Denmark on vacation I had some time to kill one day so I decided to see if I could find a vape shop. I did... and needless to say I ended up buying something. This something was a Serpent Mini and another Minivolt to go with it, and this little setup has become one of my favourites lately. The Serpent Mini produces just excellent flavour and decent vapor on pretty low wattages, I usually run it around 20-25W on a 0.8 ohm build, which is great since the Minivolt the actually lasts quite a while. Today I'm reviewing what you might call the Serpent Mini's big brother, the Serpent Mini 25mm RTA. The name of this feels kind of weird to me though... I mean it's really not that mini. Then again, it looks very similar to the Serpent Mini, with a lot of the same features. It's just bigger... so there is room for some more features as well.

Juice Review: Steepd Walter White Xtra & Pink Fizz by UFA Vape

Juice Review: Steepd Walter White Xtra & Pink Fizz by UFA Vape | Vaping | Scoop.it
Steepd is a new range of e-liquids from UK manufacturer UFA Vape. From what I've seen there are 4 juices in the range, available in 30ml glass bottles, and I was sent two of them for this review. You can get it in 3 or 6 mg/ml nicotine strength and they all come in 80/20 VG/PG ratio. I can't really find the Steepd range on the UFA web page so I guess this range is just sold through other vendors. I do appreciate that they've put up reports from analysis of their juices on their page though, shows that they're serious about making vaping as safe as possible. I was sent some of their original juices as well, and a review of those will follow as soon as I've tried them out.

Review: Freemax Starre Pure

Review: Freemax Starre Pure | Vaping | Scoop.it
Freemax sub-ohm tanks have been known for good performance and good flavour for quite a while. From my experience the different Starre tanks tend to come up as suggestions whenever someone asks for recommendations on great tasting sub-ohm tanks so they do have quite a fan-base. Ease of use is also something that is often mentioned when I see people recommend these. Personally, as you might have guessed by now, I haven't had the opportunity to try these out, so I'll just have to go by what I see other people say about them. The newest addition to the Starre line, the Starre Pure, of tanks however, just dumped down in my mailbox so now I finally get to try it myself. This tank comes with Freemax's new Ceramic Cover Coils (CCC) that, according to Freemax, is designed to improve the thermal insulation effect which leads to less heat transmission to the outside of the tank... something they claim will improve the flavour. Let's see if they're right abou

Juice Review: Rush Rush Yayo by Cheap Thrills Juice Co. | Vaping | Scoop.it
UK based Cheap Thrills Juice Co. was another juice company I had not heard of until I was asked to do this review. Then again, I have been quite busy with other things lately as you might have noticed, with the public consultations going on here in Norway at the moment. Anyway, these guys have only three flavours in their range yet but there were only two when I was asked about this review so my guess is they're just getting started and I wouldn't be surprised if we see more from them soon. Since I've been vaping quite a lot of sweet desert vapes lately I went for the fruity option with Rush Rush Yayo this time.

The vaping giraffe: The role of e-cigarettes in the tobacco endgame

The vaping giraffe: The role of e-cigarettes in the tobacco endgame | Vaping | Scoop.it
A lot of the provisions we see in both the FDA deeming regulations and the EU TPD that are currently starting to hit the vaping industry and community these days are all about protecting non-smokers from this horrible thing that is vaping. Be that never smokers or former smokers,. And the most important ones to protect are our kids and teenagers. Think about the children!

In July Karl Erik Lund, Research Director of the Tobacco Unit of the Norwegian Institute of Public Health published a commentary in Nordic Studies on Alcohol and Drugs (The Journal of Nordic Centre for Welfare and Social Issues), from which I stole the title of this post. In his commentary he asks some very important questions, and gives us some thoughts on what he thinks is the most plausible answers.

The vaping giraffe: Juice Review: Red Royal'z, Blue Cut'z No. 3 and Drummer'z Cut'z by Midaz N.E.A.T Cut'z | Vaping | Scoop.it
Tobacco seems to be one of the hardest flavours to imitate. I don't think I have come across anyone who have done it yet. Quite a few have tried, and there are quite a few that taste pretty good as well, but they still don't taste like real tobacco. This does not mean that it is impossible to create e-liquid that taste like real tobacco though, but it seems to me that you have to get your flavour from real tobacco. I've mentioned House of Liquid and their legendary El-Toro range and I've reviewed the Black Note range here on the blog. These are both fantastic tobacco ranges that I for one always recommend to people asking about tobacco juices.

Juice Review: Copsa consentrates

Juice Review: Copsa consentrates | Vaping | Scoop.it
I remember when I was a kid my family used to go to Denmark on vacation almost every summer and one of the highlights of the trip for me was the licorice ice cream that I couldn't get in Norway. If you love licorice, you should travel to Denmark, cause I do believe that Danish kids are secretly fed some kind of magic licorice liquid instead of mothers milk, which kind of makes them the experts. So what Copsa is probably doing is stealing this stuff from the factories (which I'm sure exists) and use it to make e-liquids. At least they seem to have specialized in licorice juices.

Review: SMOK Stick V8 Kit

Review: SMOK Stick V8 Kit | Vaping | Scoop.it
When I first started vaping I started with an Ego-T kit. Pretty basic stuff, with no power adjustment or anything like that on the battery. Not long after I started I remember those spinner batteries was released where you could twist the bottom to adjust the output voltage. Don't think I had many of those cause I soon moved on to mech mods and genesis atomizers, and then, in time I decided to try out some of the many regulated box mods that started to hit the market. I still mainly use regulated devices in all different shapes and sizes, except tube shaped ones. When I think of it it has been ages since I used a tube shaped mod or battery. So I guess it's about time I try one then?

Quite a lot of these kits with tube shaped batteries have been released lately.

They've got just one button, no power adjustment, just 5 clicks to turn on or off. Many of them are quite big as well, like 22-25 mm diameter, and some come with pretty crazy sub-ohm tanks in the kit as well. Kind of like an ego battery on steroids... with bad-ass tanks and with a normal 510 connection. Come to think of it, the 5 click on/off and the basic shape is probably what is left of the Ego heritage. The SMOK Stick V8 Kit that I'm reviewing today is one of those kits. It's name makes you think of big ass car engines... so you'll expect some serious power from this, right?

Review: Target Mini Vape Kit by Vaporesso | Vaping | Scoop.it
Quite a few of Vaporessos mods have pretty unique looks I'd say, and the Target mods are no exception. Both the Pro and the Mini versions comes in at least 5 different colors, some of which I would not use publicly under any circumstances. But others look pretty cool, and luckily the Mini Kit provided for this review was the silver/stainless steel version, which I think is one of the best looking ones.

Review: Aromamizer Plus RDTA by Steamcrave | Vaping | Scoop.it
I might as well start this review by saying I am a big fan of the Aromamizer series from Steamcrave. I've reviewed the original Aromamizer, the V2 and the Supreme and I've loved all of them. Out of all the atomizers I own or have owned, the Aromamizer V2 is the one I've used the most. I've tested quite a few atomizers, and quite a few great ones as well that I still use quite often, but I still make sure I have an Aromamizer V2 with my favourite juice available at all times.

TPD and plain packaging passed in Norwegian Parliament

TPD and plain packaging passed in Norwegian Parliament | Vaping | Scoop.it
On Friday, December 9th, the Norwegian government published a press release stating that the proposed changes in the tobacco act will pass in Parliament. The proposed changes are, as I've written before on several occasions, the EU TPD and plain packaging for both cigarettes and snus. I recommend reading my previous articles on what this proposal actually means, and what lies our politicians use to justify this, either consciously or due to severe lack of knowledge and willingness to learn. I also submitted an answer to the public consultation on this case.

Review: Goblin Mini V3 by UD

Review: Goblin Mini V3 by UD | Vaping | Scoop.it
The Goblin Mini tanks by UD (or Youde) have been some of my favourite mini tanks. I have both the V1 and the V2, and I've loved them both. Have to admit that the V2 has been used a lot more than the V1, simply because it has top filling. In my opinion these are pretty much equal when it comes to building (takes some trial and error to get the right amount of cotton), flavour and of course capacity, but of course ... you don't need to bring a screwdriver to fill the V1. For me the filling mechanism on the V1 is the reason I haven't used it as much as the V2. Now, it's time to try out the V3.

Review: Good RDA by 528 Custom Vapes

Review: Good RDA by 528 Custom Vapes | Vaping | Scoop.it
I don't usually use drippers much, not because I don't like it but rather because I'm not sitting down much I guess. I don't spend much time a home and when I go out I usually grab some device that I can use while I drive somewhere. I don't think it's particularly safe to drip and drive :) Although I am aware that there are solutions to this. I do own a few drippers though, they just don't get used that much. Nevertheless I still put drippers on my mental lists of vaping gear that I'd like to try out, and the Goon from 528 Customs have been one of those for a while. Mostly because it looks like a lot of fun to build on and try out some high wattage vaping.

Review: Wraith by Council of Vapor

Review: Wraith by Council of Vapor | Vaping | Scoop.it
I'm kind of a vaping nerd... I admit it. I often find myself browsing through different webshops drooling over new equipment, creating lists in my head of stuff I want to try out next. Quite a few of Council of Vapors products have made it into those lists. Actually a lot of them have to be honest. I do like their style to put it that way, and they've come up with good ideas and designs and realised these in some good quality products. I still love my Mini-volts and my Defiant tank although I have to admit I've been out of atomizer heads for a while now, seems to happen with most sub-ohm tanks I have... when I'm out of heads there is so much other stuff to try out so I never get around to buy new heads. Got to get some for the Defiant though... great little tank to bring around when I'm travelling. This also goes for the device I'm reviewing here; the Wraith 80W Squonker Mod. At least in theory it sounds great: Dripper quality flavour and high juice capacity. This is an all in one kit, that includes both the mod and the dripper... everything you need to get squonking in other words.

Aaron Biebert's documentary about vaping, A Billion Lives, has now been shown several times around the world, and not long ago the rumors that it is being considered for "Best Documentary Feature" at The Oscars were confirmed. Their success has not come easily, a lot of hard work has been done and a lot of strong forces have been working against Aaron and his team. Some days ago I got a newsletter from them (if you haven't signed up yet, please do it now) telling us about their struggles and how vapers all around the world have made this possible despite the efforts that have been made to stop the words about this documentary from spreading:

Norwegian e-cigarette consultation - My answer

Norwegian e-cigarette consultation - My answer | Vaping | Scoop.it
In a couple of days, on monday 26th, we reach the deadline for submitting an answer to the Norwegian governments consultation on the proposed changes to the tobacco act, including a new section on e-cigarettes. I have written a couple of posts about the proposition earlier and what is wrong with it:

Norway status update: The Norwegian government don't understand the vaping market
New Norwegian Tobacco Act proposal based on lies and misinformation
Norway status update: Plain packaging and e-cigs regulated as tobacco

Below is an English translation of the answer I have submitted. I apologize for some weird English in the translation... I've only had time to let google translate most of it and just corrected the most incomprehensible parts :)

I strongly encourage Norwegian vapers to submit their own answers. It does not need to be a long thorough walk-through of everything that is wrong, your own vaping story will help a lot. The more answers the government gets on this, the better are our chances of them re-thinking the whole thing. This has already happened in Denmark so it is not hopeless to try.

For my Norwegian speaking readers: My original answer in Norwegian.

The vaping giraffe: Review: iCare from Eleaf

The vaping giraffe: Review: iCare from Eleaf | Vaping | Scoop.it
I remember my first cig-alike... it had an "automatic switch", which meant that it did not have a button but draw activated. This was of course to imitate the smoking experience as much as possible. Some of the battery models back then came in two versions as well so you could choose between the automatic switch and a button to activate the device. I guess this was like 4-5 years ago, and a lot has happened since then. I for one have moved on to a lot more advanced devices, and I usually build my own coils, cause it gives my a much better vaping experience. More vapor and better flavour. Now to me, building coils and changing cotton is just a part of vaping. Sure there are build-decks that can be challenging, I can build more or less advanced coils and can use quite some time to experiment with different devices, but I can also do this pretty quickly if I need to. This all comes from experience and having gone through more and more advanced devices step by step. Different people stop at different points as well. Some move on all the way to making their own super-advanced wires, others stop at clearomizers, while others again think that changing coil-heads in sub-ohm tanks is advanced enough. As long as you're happy with your vaping experience, and thereby manage to quit or stay off the cigarettes, that's fine.

The vaping giraffe: Review: Wismec Reuleaux 2/3

The vaping giraffe: Review: Wismec Reuleaux 2/3 | Vaping | Scoop.it
On April 1st this year JayBo announced that he was "retiring" from vaping... which of course was just an Aprils fool. If you watch the video I linked, right after he exposes the joke, he says "I'm not slowing down". And he certainly have not. I've got the feeling that he has been stepping it up quite a bit lately, and there is all kinds of crazy stuff coming out from Wismec. By crazy I actually mean innovative. Just looking at the stuff that has come out lately I'd say JayBo is going through some kind of "transformers period". The devices can be set up in different ways, combined and work in different modes. The Neutron RDA can be set up with coils in serial or parallel, the tank of the Cylin RTA can be used on some of the other drippers from JayBo and the new Noisy Cricket II-25 can switch from parallel battery mode to serial batteries with constant voltage or direct output. A single mode of operation just isn't enough for JayBo these days it seems :) That also goes for the subject of this review, the Reuleaux RX2/3. Based on the very popular Reuleaux RX200S this mod can be used with either two or three 18650 batteries capable of 150W or 200W respectively ... unless you upgrade it that is.
