Google URL Shortener

Google URL Shortener at goo.gl is used by Google products to create short URLs that can be easily shared, tweeted, or emailed to friends.

This is cool. For thows of us that don't have a smart phone to scan in a QR code this can help you write your web site for your event of buisniness in short hand that can still be typed in a browser. No one jwill take the time to type a URL that is the wider then the length of 40 characters.

Nice topic choice and great article!

The Google URL shortener definitely seems like a great tool that we all will be able to use in our future careers in the Hospitality Industry whether its Event Planning or something very different. Also, this generation should be aware of all new technology because sooner or later every little aspect of a company or business will be completely driven off technology!

It will be very important, like you stated, to be aware of the length of a company, business, or organization URL for an online site. We all know the saying keep it short and sweet!

This is great technology, but also a bit scary as I've read many times about hackers being able to get the information off of your phone by standing right near you with some type of scanner equipment. We will have to watch out for that!

10 Lessons Learned from "Every Presentation Ever" | Presentation Advisors | Unconventional Convention Technology News | Scoop.it
A YouTube video which includes every presentation pet-peeve you could imagine helps shine a light on 10 important lessons for effective presenting.

I feel that this vid explains the fact that no one will enjoy or even pay attention to the speaker if they could have just read it themselves.  The technology is a tool and the person who uses that tool is the one that should be presenting. Preparation is key, Do not rely on technology to d oit for you.

This is definitely true. While tools like PowerPoint can provide the audience with key concepts, the speaker needs to not just repeat what's on the slide. Something good to share with presenters who are not used to presenting all of the time.
