'Dark Girls' Documentary: Black Women Talk Beauty, Prejudice And Self-Esteem ...
Sindy Teo's insight:

This article talks about black woman throughout the world, having low esteem in themselves, seeing nothing good them.People of the same skin colour looking at their own people seeing no beauty in their own kind instead giving comments saying,'She's just black. Why are they tripping so?' .People are being prejudice to 'black  woman' and the type of skin colour they have.Causing the 'blacks' looking down at themselves thinking to themselves, so what? 'After all I'm a Black' and it makes them feel embarrass to talk about. When reading this, it really struck me to feel why should they be "different" or treated differently just because of their skin colour,is it fair?

This is my insight using See-Think-Wonder thinking routine. From this article, I can see that the blacks are treated differently from the others, as if they are not important, all because their skin color are different. I think that this kind of behavior is rather disappointing and disgusting, seeing how blacks are no different from us. We are all humans, we have feelings. I wonder what could have made them think that they can judge a person just from his/her appearance, without knowing anything about them.

This is my insight using See-Think-Wonder thinking routine. From this article, I can see that the blacks are treated differently from the others, especially in the past as if they are not important, all because their skin color are different. I think that this kind of behavior is rather disappointing and disgusting, seeing how blacks are no different from us as we are all human and there should be equality. All of us have feelings. So i wonder how the 'Whites' will feel if they are discriminated like that 'blacks'.

Nathaniel Loreno Arendayen's curator insight, July 2, 2013 11:43 AM

Using the 'see-think-wonder', I can see from this article that the black people are treated very differently from white people. White americans often discriminate the African American people and often look down on them. Probably since the African American were once slaves that were freed by Lincoln. But that was history and we should not let it repeat itself, just because others are of a different skin colour does not mean we should look down on them. After all, they too are humans, and so are we. I think that people who look down of the black people should really reconsider their reasons. Why follow others ways when it is known that they have made the wrong decisions? I wonder how the black people cope with such discrimination and how their daily lives go about.

Politics and prejudice -- insights from Psychological Science

Politics and prejudice -- insights from Psychological Science | types of prejudice in the world today | Scoop.it
New research from psychological science explores factors operating in political attitudes that could explain why political ideology and prejudice are often linked.

Sindy Teo's insight:

This results come from the research taken to intertwine political conservatism with prejudice toward various stereotyped groups. This is caused due to conflicting values of liberals and conservatives giving rise to different kinds of prejudice, with each group favoring other social groups that share the same values. Chambers and colleagues hypothesized that, contrary to what some research might indicate, prejudice is not restricted to a particular political ideology. These findings that researchers concluded are prejudices commonly linked with ideology and are most likely derived from perceived ideological differences and not from other characteristics like racial tolerance or intolerance. To conclude,I feel that,to stop prejudice in this case, is to respect one another,as well as the values they uphold.

From this article, I learnt that there are many types of prejudice towards various stereotype groups. People select and interpret evidence consistent with their own pre-existing attitudes and ideologies.

From this article I learnt that thre are many types of prejudice towards various stereotype groups. Also that these people intepret evidence based on their own judgements.

Nathaniel Loreno Arendayen's curator insight, July 2, 2013 11:52 AM

Using the 'see-think-wonder', I can see that there are various types of prejudice towards certain stereotype groups and that it affects politics in a large scale. I think that these various types of prejudice should cease. Nothing can be gained out of hate, already bad situations only get worse when prejudice is involved. I wonder why the prejudice is such a commonly linked issue with politics.

Sindy Teo's insight:

In this report,it talks about rasicm and prejudice being interelated in countries like India.A poll published by the Washington Post revealed India to be the second-most racist country in the world after Jordan. It is made known that a staggering 43 per cent of Indians say that they wouldn't want to live next to a neighbour of a different race. They are also unable to tolerate anyone whose appearance is different from the norm even those of the same race, and would mock them, creating such differences in the country.

India is the world's second-most racist country after Jordan. I think that people should be more accepting towards other races, their languages as well as their religion and not be prejudice. It do not matter what colour we are, as we are all humans, and have blood flowing in us. I wonder if racism will continue and is the government going to do anything about it . Racism had also become a serious issue.

Seamus Ong's curator insight, July 5, 2013 8:55 AM

This is my insight using the see-think-wonder routine. From this article I can see that people are being judged by the colour of their skin, accent and other stuff. I see that most races are being judged based on what the minority from the race does like how some act or talk in public and based on that, other racial groups are under the impression that all people of that certain race is like that and they thus sterotype or generalise everyone belonging to that race. this article makes me think that racism is a big problem and one of the main causes of conflict in multienthnic societies like racial riots. I wonder if racism will ever stop.

Asha Begum's curator insight, July 6, 2016 5:20 AM

Treating the Indians in this way is not right. White men should change their perception of Indian people. Racism should stop because it is not fair to be prejudiced.
