Biodiversity is an important global issue. More than just 'I want my children to enjoy it', rich diversity allows medicines and foods to be naturally available. A healthy ecosystem maintains itself even with some natural disaster prevention mechanisms in most ecosystems. We also get various free services from the surrounding environment, which are not easily replaceable or replicable, so maintaining biodiversity is important. This section looks at some of these issues in further detail.
