La primera investigación, biodelab, se centra en el estudio de la auto-organización en la materia. Entendiendo la auto-organización como el proceso dinámico y adaptativo a través del cual los sistemas logran mantener su estructura sin control externo. El estudio de estos procesos de auto-organización de los sistemas materiales tiene por objetivo lograr la optimización de las formas y su capacidad de rendimiento.
La investigación está descrita a través de un acercamiento teórico, mediante el estudio de casos ejemplo e investigaciones sobre tecnologías materiales, y un proyecto práctico en el que se aplican todos los conocimientos adquiridos.
