Navigating the Ebook Revolution | What would Great Grandma think about this....??? | Multichannel Engagement.... | Scoop.it

The Ebook Rev- is in high gear!  I just can't help but think what my Great Grandmother, Mary Martin Delamar would think about that...  This scooped image of her copy of the book "Cooking in Old Creole Times" included a very personal and affectionate inscription from the author and close family friend, the famed international socialite "Celestine Eustis" dated 1903.  I can't help but wonder whether this type of historically significant find in "the attic de hughes" will still be possible in our brave new E-reading future....

It seems safe to assume that by the end of 2012, public libraries may be directing as much as 20% of their collection budgets to digital content. By the end of three years, it may be closer to 50%. That shift of resources, at a time when the budget pie itself is shrinking, will have one unsurprising result: The circulation of print will decline if we offer fewer print materials. That, in turn, will accelerate the shifting of resources.

The 3 C’s of Successful Content Marketing

The 3 C’s of Successful Content Marketing | Multichannel Engagement.... | Scoop.it

Content marketing is a powerful way to get your audiences attention and trust. It might seem difficult to get started but it’s pretty easy to grasp when you break it down. If you are ever struggling, just remember the 3 C’s of Content Marketing – Create, Curate, and Circulate.

Ally Greer's curator insight, January 8, 2014 5:22 PM

The way content marketing is broken down into three C's here makes it seem so simple - and frankly, it is.

Create, Curate, Circulate.

1. Understand your audience and know what they want. Then take that knowledge and make things that will benefit them and that they will find shareworthy.

2. Discover great content related to your field that has already been created by others, add value to it by editorializing, and present it to your readers in a useful, engaging format.

3. Share your content with the world - across all social and traditional marketing channels - multiple times. Don't be afraid to repurpose content, either (in true #leancontent fashion!).

Linda Buckmaster's curator insight, January 16, 2014 6:34 PM

As we all know it's very difficult to drive traffic to your website. Remembering the 3 C's of content marketing will set you on your way to success.

Dan Brody's curator insight, January 17, 2014 8:22 AM

I like the 3 Cs approach Create, Curate and Circulate.

The New Rules of Customer Engagement

The New Rules of Customer Engagement | Multichannel Engagement.... | Scoop.it
Goodbye, customer touch-points. Hello, ongoing, meaningful contact that actually drives revenue. Here's what you need to know to be more engaging right now.

Janessa Bartsch's curator insight, August 21, 2013 2:16 AM

This article explains how the days of consumer engagement achieved through various touch points (generally in store, face to face) has become a concept of the past and marketers must now adapt to an online era by engaging with consumers, which must now revolve around 5 concepts:

1. Customer engagement exists in a full spectrum of experiences.

2. It needs to be results driven

3. It happens anytime, anywhere

4. It's considered mutually beneficial

5. It's truly customer driven.

The author makes 2 good points, that if you want to engage with consumers you need to interact with them through the context of their daily lives, ie. apps that allow them to read product reviews, search the latest products available and more. Lastly they state that if you allow the consumer to communicate with you in their preferred way, you'll often end up with loyal consumers with useable feedback about your brand.

Kristy Leong's comment, August 21, 2013 6:29 AM
@Janessa Bartsch I think that that the 5 points above are very important for consumer engagement. I think this article shows the movement towards newer technology and the digital age to engage consumers more effectively. I definitely agree that if you want to engage with consumers you need to interact with them through their day-to-day lives. The more that consumers engage with the companies, results-driven will happen through conversation between the consumer and companies. Being able to build a relationship with your consumer, you are more likely to have loyal consumers that can provide positive feed back for your company and can also help bring in new consumers.
Jayden Cody Lamb's comment, August 21, 2013 11:42 PM
Referring back to Janessa's response to the article "The new rules of consumer engagement" the article creates tips which I think are very spontanious and well written in an easy to read way. It shows the way in which consumer engagement is getting very technology focused with the advancements in apps and the internet. Through this article it mentions that to engage with more consumers effectively brands need to use day to day networks to produce results.

best of british | Jubilee, Olympic Games, London Rocks! | Multichannel Engagement.... | Scoop.it

There's never been a better time to celebrate the British.... well let's see... maybe the year 1888 may have given this summer a run for it's royal money.  That was the year my great grandmother, Mary Martin (a colored girl at the time only 15 years of age) departed America with the "benevolent" Eustis family in a steam ship bound for London.

Per Mary Martin's handwritten journal entries of 1888; "The people here (English) I mean drink a lot of wine, ale, beer, Stout and sherry..also milk as the water is not very good. But I don't fancy their food much nor their love of drinking."  Timing wise, Mary would have missed Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee which was held a year earlier in 1887.  1888 would have been prime-time "Jack the Ripper" serial killer season in London. An exciting time indeed...

If my great grandma, Mary Martin was going to go HG Wells on us and get to London for this summer of 2012, I would imagine the souvenir marketplace and i-phone, tablets would make hand drawn journal entries not such a cool way to past the time.  At least now she can get her multi-channel shopping done bricks and clicks style....

Great Grandma Mary, please bring me home a high-performance athletic jersey with mesh ventilation panels. . . please!

Guest Post from George Siemans PHD.

(What Becomes of the University in a Digital/Networked World?)

"Thirty years from now the big university campuses will be relics. Universities won’t survive. It’s as large a change as when we first got the printed book.
Do you realize that the cost of higher education has risen as fast as the cost of health care? And for the middle-class family, college education for their children is as much of a necessity as is medical care—without it the kids have no future.
Such totally uncontrollable expenditures, without any visible improvement in either the content or the quality of education, means that the system is rapidly becoming untenable. Higher education is in deep crisis."

Trend-Watch: Simplicity Rocks! .... | Multichannel Engagement.... | Scoop.it

This recurring Multichannel Trend-Watch theme is not just evident in the consumer's path to purchase as highlighted in this article but also so key to engaging and influencing today's time-stressed business decision maker.  ----- Michael Hughes, Curator: Multichannel Trend-Watch

-----------   ------------   -------------

"In a survey of 7,000 consumers worldwide, we found the funnel is no longer the most common purchase path. In fact, only one third of consumers now use the funnel approach when they shop. Why the decline? The biggest reason, our research shows, is cognitive overload. Consumers are overwhelmed by the volume of choice and information they're exposed to, and marketers' relentless efforts to "engage" with them."
