A letter from Jason Mraz:
Soil needs our help. Seriously.
My name is Jason Mraz. I am a Grammy-winning recording artist, and a lover of Soil. That’s right -- rich, dark, alive, soil. I’ve even written songs about it. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that we need soil for every single thing we eat. We literally couldn’t exist without soil.
But right now, the way we farm strips our soil of all the carbon and microorganisms it needs to stay healthy. That’s bad for farmers, bad for climate ch

Ensoulment and Synchronicity: Concepts from Cosmos and Psyche by Richard Tarnas

Ensoulment and Synchronicity: Concepts from Cosmos and Psyche by Richard Tarnas | Transpersonal Wholeness | Scoop.it

In his 2006 book Cosmos and Psyche: Intimations of a New World View, Rick Tarnas suggests that the western mind has catapulted us away from a fundamental cosmos where everything was ensouled, alive, and animated by meaning and archetype.

Our modern mindset is, instead, to attempt to control and manipulate our environment, making us the active subject in any interaction, and the things we see around us the passive object. Tarnas suggests “disenchantment” refers to the way the world is objectified, thereby denying subjectivity.

“Objectification,” he contends, “denies to the world a subject’s capacity to intend, to signify intelligently, to express it's meaning, to embody and communicate humanly relevant purposes and ... (Click title to keep reading)

Depth Insights » NEW GRANGE: The Mystery of Speech by John Woodcock | Transpersonal Wholeness | Scoop.it

Inspiration!
Its very sound has a compelling pull on me.
I hear my breath expel softly as the word is spoken. Its sound conveys breathing—mostly breath, with no hard consonant “stops”.
So much like “whisper”.
I look up its meaning although I already know that “spire” means to breathe. This word also has two other meanings: a single turn of a spiral and a tapering, rising to a point, like a church spire. All three meanings, of breath, spiral, and tapering, are now independent of one another in our daily usage. But their sounds echo with one another—an echo of the past?
This preliminary “word work” already triggers a memory.
Spirals and vortices have frequently appeared in my dreams over the years. Part of my subsequent research took me to the Celtic world where spirals of course play a prominent role. I learned that Celtic scholarship could not discover any definitive meaning for the many spirallic forms found... (Click title for more)

Unfortunately, neither this excerpt nor the article itself says where this is.  I suppose I can "Google it," but it would be nice to have the "where" just given us by the author.  Yes, I do understand that as "celtic," it is likely somewhere in the British Isles.  This is just an immediate reaction, which obviously distracted me from the profound meaning of the content itself.

Aladin Fazel's curator insight, August 14, 2015 12:59 PM

But the archeological world of buried facts is not the only “portal” to our spiritual heritage—our dead past. Our spiritual heritage is also buried deep within our language, yes, as the past, but that past still living within our language, or as language’s very within-ness.

The Compassionate Mind — Why it’s healthy and how it spreads

The Compassionate Mind — Why it’s healthy and how it spreads | Transpersonal Wholeness | Scoop.it

The reason a compassionate lifestyle leads to greater psychological well-being may be explained by the fact that the act of giving appears to be as pleasurable, if not more so, as the act of receiving.

Another way in which a compassionate lifestyle may improve longevity is that it may serve as a buffer against stress.

Yet another reason compassion may boost our well-being is that it can help broaden our perspective beyond ourselves.

Finally, one additional way in which compassion may boost our well-being is by increasing a sense of connection to others.

Given the importance of compassion in our world today, and a growing body of evidence about the benefits of compassion for health and well-being, this field is bound to generate more interest and hopefully impact our community at large.

Very interesting!!! And when you feel compassion through the heart, all of a sudden you understand that you are the creator of everything you experience!

And, as a consequence, you automatically Thank for what has allowed you to learn things you had to learn for your own evolution!!!

The Core Of The Teachings

The Core Of The Teachings | Transpersonal Wholeness | Scoop.it
"The core of Krishnamurti's teaching is contained in the statement he made in 1929 when he said: 'Truth is a pathless land'. Man cannot come to it through any organisation, through any creed, through any dogma, priest or ritual, not through any philosophic knowledge or psychological technique. He has to find it through the mirror of relationship, through the understanding of the contents of his own mind, through observation and not through intellectual analysis or introspective dissection. Man has built in himself images as a fence of security - religious, political, personal. These manifest as symbols, ideas, beliefs. The burden of these images dominates man's thinking, his relationships and his daily life. These images are the causes of our problems for they divide man from man.
